The Center of Hope (COH) Coordinator Identifies and coordinates resources to meet the acute (Medical, Emotional and Legal) needs of the victims of violence (sexual assault, domestic violence/intimate partner violence, child abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking). This position develops policies to ensure best practices are implemented to promote patient safety. The coordinator recruits, trains, and supports Forensic Nurse Examiners (and or by providing patient care) working in the Center of Hope to ensure competencies and standard of care met. This position requires collaborative work with the Medical Director, the area Centers of Hope or Sexual Assault Treatment Centers, and with the community at large. The coordinator will participate in Center of Hope educational offerings: SANE training, clinical education, and community awareness and response to violence. This position actively seeks grant funding, implements projects, and manages grant funding to sustain and further develop the Center of Hope. This position collaborates with Law Enforcement and the lay community raising awareness of the Center of Hope and promoting the image of Franciscan Alliance. The coordinator is responsible for performing peer review/chart auditing, ensuring policies and procedures are in place to maintain the integrity of confidential information, ensuring security and chain of custody of evidence collected and providing courtroom testimony.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
  • SANE Registered Nurse - Center of Hope .9 FTE Alternating shifts
  • Medical Director Collaboration Collaborates with the Medical Director, the area Centers of Hope, Law Enforcement, Advocacy, Rape Crisis Centers and Prosecutors and with the community at large. Provide Consult to Medical Providers and Professional Staff (RNs, Forensic Nurse Examiners, and NPs).
  • Safe Work Environment Maintains a clean and safe work environment by handling and clearing instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with infection-control policies and protocols. Administers and stores medication according to facility pharmacy and state/federal guidelines and regulations. Works with security and department leadership to establish protocols to ensure the safety of the department, staff and patient.
  • Grant Funding Support Seeks grant funding, implement projects and manage grant funding to sustain and further develop the Center of Hope. Works with Foundation Grant Manager to initiate and research grant applications and provide statistical data relative to grant application for program growth and development. Responsible for establishing and achieving programming goals and objectives, implementing action plan outlined in grant application to maintain source funding. Provide quarterly reporting of statistical information related to services provided to victims of violence by established timelines. Manage Forensic Nursing Staff call hours, exam times, outreaching and continued education hours for grant reporting purposes for reimbursement. Responsible for tracking and reporting outreaching and education for grant quarterly reports.
  • Community Outreach Conducts or participates in community outreaching, including community partners such as Law Enforcement, Advocacy, coalitions, and other SATCs, promoting the image of the hospital and increasing awareness for services.
  • Peer Review Performs chart reviews to ensure charting competencies met, standard of care provided and quality measures and metrics have been met. Identifies areas of improvement to engage staff as improvement measures. Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to facility privacy policies.
  • Legal/Judicial Responsibilities Provides clinical experience, act and /or expert witness court room testimony. Reviews chart and pretrial meetings with attorney/prosecutors for court/trial preparation. Maintains certifications and provide Curriculum Vitae. Works with Risk Management and Legal to ensure HIPAA compliance and adherence to judicia proceedings. May provide expert consult for legal/judicial court cases. Responsible for developing and maintaining policies and protocols regarding chain of custody and evidence integrity.
  • Resource Identification Identifies and coordinates resources to meet the acute (Medical, Emotional and Legal) needs of the victim of violence. Develops policies to ensure best practices are implemented to promote patient safety. Ensures resources are aligned with our Franciscan Mission and Values.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required: Associate's Degree Nursing / Patient Care
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing / Patient Care
  • Required: 3 years Must be actively practicing SANE/Forensic Nurse Examiner
  • Required: Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensing Board
  • Required: Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners Certification (SANE) - International Association of Forensic Nurses
  • Required: Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • As Required by Unit: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
  • As Required by Unit: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
