- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
- Performs sexual assault examinations while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Identifies medical stability or injuries, collects forensic evidence, provides/arranges for counseling and follow up care and testifies in courts when summoned. Collaborates with law enforcement, medical staff and community resources.
- DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- The regional sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) center provides services and resources to Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties in a private and secure facility. Staffed by nurses with specialized training, the SANE center provides immediate medical treatment, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, to patients who have experienced sexual violence. Additional counseling and patient support is also available.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN Licensure required.
- Two (2) years RN experience required, one (1) year experience must be in an acute care setting.
- Healthcare Provider BLS required.
- AGH Sane Nurse Program:
- IAFN SANE-A or Oregon Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner certification required within one (1) year of hire.

- Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
- Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients.
