What is an on call SANE nurse?

An On Call SANE Nurse is a registered nurse who has received specialized training to provide care and forensic examinations to patients who have experienced sexual assault or abuse. 'SANE' stands for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. These nurses are available on an on-call basis, often responding to hospitals or clinics when a forensic examination is needed.
