Job description

Position Summary
Samsung, a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology, is founded on a simple philosophy - the endless pursuit of excellence will create a better world for all. At Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL), we are building a center of excellence for Intellectual Property (IP) that is applied to high-performance computing devices (mobile, automotive, and other custom market segments) consumed by millions of people around the world. Role and Responsibilities
  • Perform semiconductor engineering research, design, development, and testing for firm products and devices in conjunction with product development for the electronic communications industry.
  • Drive the verification efforts of Samsung's advanced GPU design to deliver market-leading standards of quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with architects, design engineers, and other verification team members, and lead the development of comprehensive verification strategies and methodologies.
  • Lead and develop verification plans based on Samsung's GPU architecture specifications and design requirements.
  • Define verification strategies, methodologies, and metrics to ensure thorough validation of the GPU functionality.
  • Lead the development of advanced verification environments and testbenches using System Verilog and UVM (Universal Verification Methodology).
  • Implement constrained random testing, coverage-driven verification, and assertion-based verification techniques.
  • Solve challenging problems and ensuring comprehensive functional and performance coverage by creating complex test scenarios and test cases to validate GPU features, performance, and functionality.
  • Debug efforts to identify and resolve design issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Drive cross functional collaboration with design and software teams to analyze failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Implement automation scripts and tools to streamline verification processes, improve efficiency, and reduce time-to-market.
  • Drive teams to work towards verification closure by achieving coverage goals (functional coverage, code coverage, etc.) and sign-off criteria.
  • Generate comprehensive verification reports and documentation.

Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus six (6) years of experience in a GPU verification or related semiconductor role working with the following: System Verilog, UVM, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl); GPU architecture, graphics pipelines, and parallel processing; industry-standard verification tools and methodologies such as VCS, Verdi, and Jasper formal tool; Problem-solving and debugging; General purpose Object-Oriented Programming using C++/Java; Performance profiling and analysis.
Alternate Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field and eight (8) years of experience in a GPU verification or related semiconductor role working with the following: System Verilog, UVM, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl); GPU architecture, graphics pipelines, and parallel processing; industry-standard verification tools and methodologies such as VCS, Verdi, and Jasper formal tool; Problem-solving and debugging; General purpose Object-Oriented Programming using C++/Java; Performance profiling and analysis.
Total Rewards
At Samsung - SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $216,091.00 - $251,760.00. Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. This is an exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Samsung employees have access to benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), free onsite lunch, employee purchase program, tuition assistance (after 6 months), paid time off, student loan program, wellness incentives, and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for MBO bonus compensation, based on company, division, and individual performance.
Additionally, this role might be eligible to participate in long term incentive plan and relocation.
