Job Description

The Sample Receiving Technician is responsible for the accurate receipt, documentation, and organization of incoming water samples. This role ensures sample integrity, proper storage, and timely delivery to laboratory staff for analysis. The position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and effective coordination with laboratory personnel.

  • Receive and log incoming water samples following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Verify proper labeling, identification, and integrity of each sample upon receipt.
  • Record all relevant sample details (source, date, time, condition) in LIMS.
  • Maintain accurate chain-of-custody and transportation documentation.
  • Store water samples in designated areas, ensuring temperature control and preservation of integrity.
  • Sort and prioritize samples based on testing requirements and timelines.
  • Track inventory for testing supplies (e.g., pH and chlorine strips) and alert supervisors of shortages or discrepancies.
  • Confirm that samples are properly sealed and handled to prevent contamination or degradation.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the sample receiving area.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with laboratory managers and technicians to ensure timely sample delivery for analysis.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding sample status and provide updates as needed.
  • Notify clients when samples do not meet proper requirements.
Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma 
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada without restriction. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a laboratory or sample receiving environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with LIMS or similar software.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Prior experience in a laboratory or sample receiving environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with LIMS or similar software.
Additional Information
  • Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30 A.M.- 5:00 PM, with additional time as needed. 
  • Position is located at our Marion, Ohio location. 
  • Position Pay Range is $18-20/hr based on experience.
