Summary 

The Sample Room Technician is responsible for preparing, producing, receiving, storing, and shipping product samples. This role supports domestic and international sample fulfillment, maintains accurate sample inventory records, operates sample-preparation equipment, and keeps the sample room and storage areas clean, organized, and audit-ready.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Receive, pull, and ship customer sample orders accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare outgoing samples for customers.
  • Assemble boxes and packaging for shipment.
  • Create shipping documentation and labels using commercial carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL).
  • Ship samples domestically and internationally in accordance with company procedures and carrier requirements.
  • Maintain sample room cleanliness (e.g., clean tables, sweep floors).
  • Operate the cut rag machine to prepare cut rag from raw tobacco.
  • Operate the cigarette machine to produce cigarettes using cut rag.
  • Receive and log all incoming samples.
  • Maintain sample inventory records in an Access database.
  • Place samples into designated storage bins and locations.
  • Maintain and organize sample storage areas; remove outdated materials as directed.
  • Monitor and replenish inventory of shipping supplies (e.g., bags, boxes, tape).
  • Retrieve samples from storage as requested.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Access
  • Ability to operate production/shipping equipment safely after training
  • Strong attention to detail and organization; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of logistics and shipping procedures.
  • Knowledge of documentation and labels using commercial carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL).
  • Experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control, or production support
