JOB SUMMARY:

The Intermodal Operations Representative is responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day movement of intermodal freight across rail, truck, and terminal operations. This role ensures shipments move efficiently, safely, and on schedule by acting as a liaison between carriers, terminals, customers, and internal teams. The representative monitors load status, resolves operational issues, maintains accurate documentation, and provides timely communication to support service reliability, cost control, and customer satisfaction.


This position is required to be on-site daily in the Franklin, TN office location.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility will be verified through E-Verify, and a background check is required.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate daily intermodal shipments
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, railroads, carriers, terminals, and internal teams
  • Schedule and dispatch rail pickups and deliveries to meet service commitments
  • Monitor shipment progress and proactively manage delays, exceptions, and service disruptions
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of orders from origin to destination
  • Track container availability, rail ramp moves, dwell times, and cut-off schedules
  • Verify documentation accuracy, including bills of lading, rail waybills, customs information (as applicable), and delivery confirmations
  • Update transportation management systems (TMS) with shipment status, costs, and milestone events
  • Resolve operational issues such as missed appointments, equipment shortages, chassis availability, or misrouted containers
  • Communicate shipment updates, ETAs, and service issues clearly and professionally to customers
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and billing teams to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Review freight bills and support billing accuracy, accessorial approvals, and cost control
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, rail carrier rules, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and recommending process enhancements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-years Intermodal experience preferred.
  • Experience with TMS systems is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage high volume transactions efficiently.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth or fast-paced environment.
