Reports to: Director of Sales

Position Overview: The Group Sales Manager is responsible for driving group business and achieving revenue goals for Carneros Resort and Spa. This role focuses on securing new accounts, nurturing existing relationships, and ensuring the resort meets its revenue and market share objectives. The ideal candidate combines strong sales skills with a deep understanding of the luxury hospitality market to deliver outstanding results. While the preference is for the Group Sales Manager to be based on property, periodic remote work is an option.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Revenue Goals:

  • The individual will be responsible for effectively soliciting and securing new accounts
  • Proactively conduct solicitation calls, property tours, and client entertainment to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Attain assigned sales, revenue, and solicitation call goals to support the resort’s financial objectives.

Market Analysis and Strategic Planning:

  • Maintain strong visibility within the local community and relevant industry organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales and fellow colleagues to develop and execute effective sales plans for group segments.
  • Monitor and evaluate market trends to identify new opportunities and adapt strategies accordingly.

Guest Experience and Service Standards:

  • Participate in special promotions, sales blitzes, and other initiatives to enhance the resort’s market presence.
  • Develop a full understanding of the resort’s operations, amenities, and policies to effectively communicate value to clients.
  • Approach all guest and client interactions with professionalism, warmth, and a service-oriented attitude.

Administrative and Team Collaboration:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Sales or General Manager.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless group events and client satisfaction.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly sales meetings, sharing updates and contributing to team goals.
  • Prepare and submit sales reports, forecasts, and other required documentation in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous hotel sales experience, preferably in a luxury or resort setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate, influence, and sell.
  • Proficiency in professional selling skills, including opening, probing, supporting, and closing techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently with excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Familiarity with Napa and Sonoma markets is a plus.
  • Active participation in local community and industry organizations.
