Job description

For 80 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community. We are currently seeking a Regional Sales Director to join our team!
The Retail Regional Sales Director for the Northeast Region will join one of our fastest growing product segments and manage RLWS's sales efforts in the assigned territory. The selected person will build long-term relationships with all designated retail scale distributors and manage the technical sales process from prospecting to closing. This will require a financially motivated road warrior who relentlessly travels within the assigned territory to optimize sales growth and profit margin across all product lines while. Most importantly, we are seeking a person who can support our industry leading, world-class commitment to customer service. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Locates, contacts and sells to new accounts. Includes making product demonstrations, developing competitive quotes, negotiating with customers, regular follow-up and closing sales. Ensures new accounts are appropriately set up in the sales system.
  • Reports all customer action items and market intelligence through weekly contact reports. While in the field, all customer action items are to be phoned or e-mailed for immediate action, with a goal of same day response to standard inquiries and customer support.
  • Maintains competitor files. Researches competitors including product pricing, features, buying patterns and sales methods. Maintains an ongoing database of all programs being implemented by competitors.
  • Works closely with Retail Business Unit Manager on recommendations for product enhancements, new product needs and market trends.
  • Work closely with Retail Business Manager when considering new customer sign on in their respective regions. Assist with sales forecasting concerning assigned accounts and new business. Assists in formulating sales with assigned accounts.
  • Frequent, weekly travel required; actively participates in various trade shows and exhibitions.

Qualified applicants will have an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Marketing or Engineering. The position requires five or more years of related sales experience; retail weighing experience or related products would be beneficial, but not required.
In addition, the candidate must currently reside in the territory (OH, WV, VA, MD, DE, PA, NJ, CT, RI, MA, NY, VT, NH, ME) OR be willing to relocate to this area; in addition, the candidate must live near a national airport. Must be able to travel 3-4 nights per week within the territory and frequent destination trips outside of territory (trade shows, training, industry meetings, etc.).
A valid driver's license is required for this position. Finally, the selected candidate will need advanced personal computing and exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
