What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sales Development Representative in Software, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Development Representative (SDR) in software, you need strong communication skills, a solid understanding of sales processes, and ideally a background in business or technology. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms like Salesforce, sales enablement tools, and sometimes relevant sales certifications are commonly required. Outstanding SDRs excel at active listening, resilience, and time management to build rapport and efficiently qualify leads. These skills and tools are vital for generating high-quality leads, supporting the sales pipeline, and driving revenue growth in a competitive software market.

How does a Sales Development Software role typically interact with sales and marketing teams?

Professionals in Sales Development Software roles often serve as a vital link between the sales and marketing teams. They collaborate closely with marketing to understand campaign goals and messaging, while also working with sales to qualify leads and ensure smooth handoffs. Success in this role often requires clear communication, sharing insights on lead quality, and providing feedback on prospect engagement. This collaborative approach helps optimize the sales funnel and drives more effective outreach strategies.

What is a Sales Development Software?

It automates tasks such as lead generation, outreach, follow-up, and tracking interactions, enabling sales representatives to focus on building relationships and closing deals. These platforms often integrate with CRM systems, provide analytics, and help streamline the sales process to increase productivity and conversion rates.

Job description

Company Description Corgi is building the first fully automated insurance carrier. We've raised over $108M and are launching a trucking insurance carrier from zero into a $40B+ market still underwritten on paper files and 1990s rating engines. We're hiring early-career sales reps who can sell water to a pond, want to be in the building, on the phones, every day, and join the ground floor of a company on track to $100B+. To learn more, visit www.corgi.com.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco for a Sales Development Representative on our trucking insurance team. You will work directly with the two executives leading the division, making outbound calls and booking qualified meetings with fleet owners, dispatchers, safety directors, and platform partners. You will research target accounts before you dial (fleet size, equipment, lanes, loss history), keep the CRM updated daily, hand clean qualified meetings to Account Executives, support accounts from deal close through onboarding and first bind, and surface upsell opportunities as you spot them. In-office 5 to 6 days a week, not remote, not hybrid. Hit your numbers and move into an AE seat in 6 to 12 months.

Team You will work directly with the two executives leading this division. Brianna Lynch began her career at EY before leading FP&A and Corporate Development at HarbourVest Partners, then joined Affiliated Managers Group (an $880B asset manager) where she worked across M&A and Investor Relations acquiring and advising private equity, hedge fund, and venture capital firms. She joined Corgi in 2025 as Head of Finance and leads M&A alongside Drew. Drew Bregman previously founded a behavioral assessment company that helps the NSA and U.S. military identify talent. Before that, he co-founded Corgi's M&A team and the sales division at Corgi's subsidiary Beagle (40% MoM growth), and earlier built transportation management software as an engineer at a large freight brokerage.
