Job description

Business Development Representative (BDC)

Scranton Motors | Vernon, CT
Full-Time | On-Site
Start Date: October 2026

Join the Scranton Motors Team

Scranton Motors is looking for friendly, motivated, and dependable Business Development Representatives to join our team in Vernon, CT, beginning in October 2026.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys connecting with people, providing excellent customer service, and helping customers take the next step in their vehicle-shopping experience.

No automotive experience? No problem.

We're looking for people with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. We'll provide the training and tools you need to succeed.

Family-Owned & Operated Since 1952

For more than 70 years, Scranton Motors has been a family-owned and operated Connecticut dealership. Today, we're proud to continue that tradition under our third generation of family leadership.

Our history has been built on relationships—with our customers, our community, and our employees.

We offer the stability and opportunities of an established automotive organization while maintaining the personal environment of a family-owned business.

At Scranton Motors, you're joining a team—not becoming another number.

What You'll Do

As a Business Development Representative, you'll help customers connect with our dealership and sales team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Respond to customers who contact the dealership
  • Connect with customers by phone, text, and email
  • Assist customers with basic questions
  • Schedule showroom appointments
  • Confirm upcoming appointments
  • Follow up with customers who have previously expressed interest
  • Reconnect with customers who may still be considering a vehicle
  • Reach out to customers approaching the end of their vehicle lease
  • Update customer information and notes in our system
  • Keep track of customer follow-up
  • Communicate appointment information to our sales team
  • Help create a friendly and professional customer experience

Your job isn't to sell the vehicle.

Your role is to start the conversation, provide a great experience, and help customers schedule a convenient time to visit the dealership.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys talking with people
  • Has a friendly and professional personality
  • Communicates well by phone, text, and email
  • Is comfortable using a computer
  • Can stay organized throughout the day
  • Pays attention to details
  • Follows through on tasks
  • Is dependable and punctual
  • Has a positive attitude
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Is comfortable working toward goals
  • Is open to coaching and learning new skills

Automotive experience is not required.

Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, reception, appointment scheduling, inside sales, or other customer-facing positions can be a great fit for this opportunity.

What Does Success Look Like?

We keep it simple.

Connect with customers. Provide a great experience. Schedule appointments. Follow up. Stay organized.

You don't need to know everything about cars when you start.

We'll teach you our systems, processes, and approach to customer communication.

What we can't teach is a positive attitude, dependability, and a genuine willingness to help people.

Training & Support

You'll receive training and ongoing support to help you become comfortable and confident in the position, including:

  • Customer communication
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Dealership systems and technology
  • CRM training
  • Vehicle and product basics
  • Customer follow-up
  • Phone, text, and email communication
  • Ongoing coaching and development
Why Scranton Motors?The Family-Owned Difference

Scranton Motors has been family-owned and operated since 1952 and is now in its third generation of family leadership.

We're proud of where we've come from—and we're equally focused on developing the people who will help us grow in the future.
