Business Development Representative (Inside Sales) Concrete Flooring Solutions

Just Sales Jobs

Cambridge, ON • On-site

CA$70K - CA$75K/yr

Full-time

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

As a Business Development Representative (Inside Sales), you will reconnect with industrial manufacturers, food and beverage processors, and previously serviced general-contractor accounts to introduce our client’s industrial and commercial concrete flooring solutions — polished concrete, resinous coatings, waterproofing, and floor leveling. You will primarily reach facility owners, plant and facilities managers, and project managers. This is an office-based, phone-driven role: you make high-volume outbound calls into company-supplied lists of past and dormant accounts, run discovery to uncover floor-related needs, qualify the opportunity, and book a meeting for the closing team. You do not close deals and you do not build your own lead lists — all lists are supplied by the company. The single measure of success is the number of qualified meetings you book. This is approximately 100% new business development and account reactivation, with a clear path into account management over time. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the President. The base salary is $70,000 – $75,000 CAD, plus activity-based incentives.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $70,000 – $75,000 CAD base salary, plus an activity-based incentive plan paid monthly
  • Year 1 OTE: $80,000 – $90,000 CAD (base plus meeting-based incentives at target)
  • Year 2 OTE: grows as you advance toward account management
  • Incentives are tied to qualified booked meetings, with additional spiffs when a booked meeting converts to closed business
  • Health benefits — company-sponsored, with a 50/50 premium split
  • RRSP matching program
  • Laptop and cell phone provided
  • Continuing-education reimbursement
  • Company social events and outings
  • Free snacks in office

THE COMPANY & CULTURE

Our client was founded in approximately 2000 and is an established, privately owned company with 35 employees, headquartered in Cambridge, Ontario. After 26 years in business, the company is in a reactivation and growth phase and is launching a brand-new inside-sales program — this role is the first hire into that program. They install and finish industrial and commercial concrete floors, including polished concrete, epoxy and polyurethane resinous coatings, traffic coatings, waterproofing, and floor leveling and toppings, for facilities across Ontario and nationally.

The culture is collaborative, upbeat, driven, and flexible, with a leadership team that does not micromanage. Dress is semi-casual. The company serves industrial manufacturing, food and beverage, retail, institutional, and transportation clients. Clients include PCL Construction, EllisDon, Costco, and PetSmart.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY

  • Head office: Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
  • Work arrangement: Office-based — fully in-office at the Cambridge headquarters
  • This is an inside, phone-based role — there is no field territory
  • Sales territory: outbound calls into accounts across Ontario and nationally (Canada), worked from the Cambridge office
  • Ideal candidate location: commutable to Cambridge — the Kitchener–Waterloo–Cambridge, Guelph, or Hamilton corridor
  • Hours: full-time, days, standard business hours, Monday to Friday
  • Overnight travel: none required (less than 5%) — occasional local job-site visits only

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1–4 years of sales experience, ideally in a high-volume outbound role (SDR, BDR, inside sales, or similar phone-based prospecting)
  • Background preference: candidates from tech / SaaS or other structured, high-activity outbound sales environments who already understand the SDR / BDR motion, daily call cadence, and KPI-driven prospecting
  • Industry experience is not required and is not the target — product knowledge is trained through onboarding and in-house AI knowledge tools; construction-industry sellers are not the focus for this role
  • Comfortable working in a CRM daily (Salesforce is an asset, not a requirement); generally tech-savvy and quick to adopt new tools
  • Comfortable with high-volume outbound calling and variable, activity-based targets
  • Comfortable working exclusively from company-supplied lead lists — this role does not build its own lists
  • Education: post-secondary is a plus but not required — character, communication, and drive matter most
  • A valid driver’s licence is an asset for occasional local site visits, but is not a core requirement

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Salesforce CRM — Basic (asset)
  • Standard proficiency in Microsoft Office required

THE PRODUCT / SERVICE / SOLUTION

  • Polished concrete flooring
  • Epoxy and polyurethane resinous coatings
  • Traffic coatings and waterproofing systems
  • Floor leveling and toppings

PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION MAKER(S)

  • Industrial manufacturing facilities
  • Food and beverage manufacturing and processing plants
  • General contractors — reactivated relationships from previously completed construction projects
  • Customers are located across Ontario and nationally (Canada)
  • Primary decision-makers: facility owners, plant and facilities managers, and project managers

SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE

  • Larger (“A”) accounts represent approximately $100,000 per year in business
  • Mid-size (“B”) accounts represent approximately $50,000 – $100,000 per year
  • This role sets and books qualified meetings; deals are closed by the account-management team, not by this role

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

  • Performance and durability of the finished concrete floor systems
  • Long-standing industry reputation and a proven prior track record
  • National-account coverage and scale
  • Existing, trusted relationships with past clients — a strong reactivation hook (“we did your floors originally”)
  • Unionized contractor known for quality, reliability, and coverage rather than lowest price

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES

  • 90% New Business Development and Account Reactivation
  • 10% Administrative Duties

On a typical day you will make high-volume outbound calls into company-supplied lists of dormant accounts, run discovery conversations to identify floor-related needs, verify the correct decision-maker, and book qualified meetings directly into a closer’s calendar. You will update Salesforce in real time, refresh stale contact records, send follow-up materials, and feed back what is landing on the phones to help refine the calling script and approach.

LEADS

  • 100% company-supplied lead lists — you do not build your own lists
  • Lists are drawn from a large database of dormant accounts built over approximately 20 years in business
  • Initial lists: industrial manufacturers, food and beverage manufacturers, and previously completed general-contractor accounts
  • This is high-volume outbound calling — reconnecting with past and dormant accounts is a core, daily expectation

OVERNIGHT TRAVEL

  • None required — less than 5%
  • Occasional local job-site visits to build first-hand familiarity with the product and the work

SUPPORT & TRAINING

  • Approximately one week of intensive onboarding — CRM, company resources, and call shadowing with the President and Account Manager
  • In-house AI knowledge tools allow you to self-serve product questions during ramp
  • You begin calling in week two; periodic site visits follow thereafter
  • Ongoing coaching directly with the President as the program ramps and the script is refined

WHY YOU SHOULD APPLY

  • A ground-floor role in a brand-new, leader-backed program — you help build it from day one
  • Open lead access: a large, largely untapped ~20-year database of dormant accounts to reactivate, with a warm “we did your floors originally” angle
  • A clear, defined path into account management for strong performers
  • No industry experience needed — full product training is provided through onboarding and in-house tools
  • Competitive base plus activity-based incentives, company-sponsored benefits, RRSP matching, and continuing-education reimbursement
