Job description

Purpose

The position is designed to give a business or marketing-focused student hands‑on exposure to real-world commercial operations in a manufacturing environment.

The Marketing Intern will provide analytical, documentation, and cross‑functional support to the Sales & Marketing team, with a primary focus on updating and maintaining product packaging specifications. This role supports business, marketing, supply chain, and warehouse teams by ensuring accurate packaging data, inventory documentation, and commercial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, update, and maintain product packaging specifications for approximately 60 packaging codes used for inventory management, transportation planning, and customer documentation
  • Reconcile variations across existing packaging codes and ensure accurate, standardized documentation suitable for both internal and external use
  • Create and revise professional packaging specification documents using Excel and Adobe PDF tools, including internal and customer-facing versions
  • Measure and document packaging and material characteristics (e.g., dimensions, weights, configurations) for products currently in possession
  • Maintain master spreadsheets containing packaging measurements and specifications
  • Update packaging-related data within SAP and other internal systems, as applicable
  • Collaborate with Business Managers, Supply Chain and Warehouse Operations to gather missing or updated information
  • Communicate with internal teams and external suppliers or contacts to obtain packaging specifications for products not currently stocked at the Riverport warehouse
  • Support inventory management initiatives, including:
    • Partial skid tracking and reconciliation
    • Aged, slow-moving, or excess inventory analysis
    • Identification and tracking of off-grade material
  • Assist Business Managers with commercial and marketing-related tasks such as sales analysis, margin review, pricing support, and market research
  • Perform data entry, validation, and maintenance of commercial and inventory datasets
  • Support pricing-related activities by compiling, updating, and analyzing reference and pricing data
  • Analyze website traffic using Google Analytics and summarize insights for the commercial team
  • Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations to communicate findings to internal stakeholders
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and departmental meetings as part of the co‑op rotation

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience working with spreadsheets and data analysis
  • Ability to create, edit, and manage professional documents using PDF tools (Adobe preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work cross-functionally and engage with a variety of internal stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to SAP or other ERP systems
  • Familiarity with inventory or supply chain concepts
  • Experience with Google Analytics or basic website traffic analysis
  • Interest in marketing, pricing, sales analytics, or commercial operations
