The Dayton Parts HD Area Sales Manager (ASM) role offers a dynamic opportunity to be a key driver of growth within the Montreal/Quebec region. As the principal liaison for assigned warehouse distributors and a secondary contact for jobbers, the ASM plays a vital role in expanding Dayton's market presence. This position requires a strategic and proactive individual who will operate mainly as a road warrior, traveling extensively throughout the territory to build strong customer relationships, understand local market needs, and deliver tailored sales solutions. Residing in a central location within the territory is recommended to maximize efficiency and customer engagement.

Primary Duties
  • Lead revenue growth initiatives by actively managing relationships with mid-sized traditional distribution customers within the designated territory to consistently meet or exceed sales targets and profitability goals.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities with new and existing accounts to expand Dorman Products’ distribution footprint, ensuring optimal product placement and inventory levels aligned with business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with assigned customers, ensuring brand representation is of the highest standard through strategic merchandising, promotional activities, and regular communications.
  • Participate in and represent Dorman Products at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to enhance brand visibility and gather market intelligence critical to competitive positioning.
  • Support sales enablement initiatives by delivering product training and market presentations to sales teams, counter personnel, and clients, thereby enhancing product knowledge and driving pull-through sales.
  • Serve as the eyes and ears of the company in the field by vigilantly monitoring competitor activities, emerging market trends, and customer feedback, providing actionable insights to corporate teams for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, logistics, and product management teams to ensure seamless execution of sales plans and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate sales records, forecasts, and reports, ensuring alignment with company standards and facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Adapt to evolving business needs by undertaking additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to organizational success.
Qualifications
  • Fluency in both French and English to effectively communicate with diverse customer bases and internal teams within the bilingual region.
  • Possession of a reliable personal vehicle is essential; a monthly car allowance is provided to support travel demands.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, to create reports, presentations, and manage data efficiently.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously in a remote, travel-intensive role, demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience in fact-based competitive selling, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations supported by data and market insights.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively (50% or more), including occasional weekends, to meet customer and business needs.

Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds or more to support logistics and merchandising activities.

Working Environment: This role demands active physical engagement including reaching, carrying items between locations, and consistent verbal communication. The working noise level is generally moderate, requiring focus and adaptability.

Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, automotive technology, or related disciplines is preferred to provide a solid foundation for technical understanding and business acumen.
  • Minimum of five years' relevant sales experience, ideally with demonstrated success in territory management and distributor relationships.
  • Previous experience engaging with warehouse distributors (WDs), jobbers, or automotive technicians is preferred to facilitate strong industry insight and connections.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $ 83,900 CAD to $ 124,800 CAD. This role is also eligible for a bonus.
