How much do salaries jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 20, 2026, the average yearly pay for salaries in the United States is $68,000.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $36,000.00 and $100,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a salary?

Salaries are regular payments made by employers to employees, typically on a monthly or biweekly basis, in exchange for their work. Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS), data analysis tools, and certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) are commonly required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help professionals excel in this role. These skills ensure competitive, compliant, and equitable compensation practices that support employee satisfaction and organizational objectives.

Professionals working in salary administration often face challenges such as keeping up with evolving labor laws, ensuring pay equity, and managing confidential data securely. They must balance organizational budgets with competitive market rates to attract and retain talent, all while handling sensitive employee inquiries about compensation. Collaboration with HR, finance, and department managers is frequent, requiring strong communication skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and fairness in payroll and salary decisions.
