Position Overview:
 

CVS Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support its Vaccination Initiative at the Highland Park CVS retail clinic in Mattoon, Illinois. This role focuses on administering a wide range of immunizations while delivering exceptional patient-centered care in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong vaccination experience, excellent clinical assessment skills, and the ability to educate patients on vaccine safety, preventive healthcare, and post-vaccination care.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer CDC-recommended vaccines, including:
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • COVID-19
    • MMR
    • Hepatitis
    • Tdap
    • Pneumonia
    • Shingles
    • RSV
    • Other routine adult and pediatric immunizations
  • Perform comprehensive pre-vaccination assessments and health screenings.
  • Review patient medical history, allergies, contraindications, and vaccine eligibility.
  • Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, potential side effects, post-vaccination care, booster schedules, and CDC immunization guidelines.
  • Monitor patients during the observation period following immunization and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or emergencies.
  • Administer medications as ordered and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Maintain vaccine inventory, storage, handling, and cold-chain compliance.
  • Follow infection prevention and OSHA safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and healthcare team members to ensure efficient clinic workflow.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-focused care while promoting preventive health and wellness initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience, including immunization/vaccination administration
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced retail clinic
  • Must be eligible to work and not listed on the DEA Excluded Parties List
  • High School Diploma or GED (verifiable)
