Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Senior Biologist to join its collaborative team in Irvine, CA. This individual will serve a key role in conducting and leading biological resource assessments, special-status species surveys, vegetation mapping, nesting bird surveys, restoration monitoring, and biological construction monitoring throughout Southern California. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams supporting infrastructure, energy, land development, transportation, water, and environmental restoration projects.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead nesting bird surveys, biological resources and habitat suitability assessments, vegetation communities classification and mapping, plant and animal species inventories, special status plant and animal species surveys, jurisdictional delineations, resource constraints analyses, and tree surveys;
  • Develop permit application packages for ACOE, CDFW, USFWS, and local agencies;
  • Coordinate with field teams and project managers to implement permit conditions;
  • Travel to job sites in remote locations; and,
  • Work in construction environments where schedule, timeliness, and attention to detail are top priorities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, wildlife biology, ecology, botany, environmental science, or related field;
  • 3-6 years of biological consulting experience in Southern California;
  • Experience conducting habitat assessments and special-status species surveys;
  • Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, ESA, Clean Water Act, and California Fish and Game Code requirements;
  • Experience preparing permit applications and coordinating with USFWS, CDFW, USACE, Regional Water Boards, and local agencies;
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, and GPS-based data collection;
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills;
  • Ability to travel and perform fieldwork in varying environmental conditions.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
Pay Range
$76,000-$110,000 USD
