Job Title: Safety Representative

Job Description

This role oversees site safety on solar construction projects, ensuring that all work complies with relevant safety standards and best practices. The safety representative leads safety initiatives on electrical and mission critical construction sites, promotes a strong safety culture, and provides guidance and training to project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of site safety on solar construction projects, with a strong focus on electrical and mission critical construction activities.
  • Implement and enforce safety management programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the construction site, equipment, and work practices to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Provide safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel, including topics such as rigging and lifting, man-lifts, scissor lifts, and electrical safety.
  • Monitor and track safety recordables, incidents, and near misses, and maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with project teams to plan work in a manner that minimizes risk, particularly for electrical construction and solar installation activities.
  • Support safe operation and use of man-lifts and scissor lifts, ensuring proper training, inspection, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with workers on the job site, addressing concerns, and reinforcing safe behaviors.
  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure that safety signage, personal protective equipment, and other safety resources are available and properly used on the site.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in safety management on construction sites, preferably within solar and electrical construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 30 standards and ability to apply them in a construction environment.
  • Experience with construction safety practices, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and corrective action planning.
  • Hands-on experience providing safety training to construction teams, including topics related to solar, electrical work, and equipment operation.
  • Ability to track and manage safety recordables, maintain accurate documentation, and prepare safety reports.
  • Knowledge of rigging and lifting safety practices in a construction setting.
  • Familiarity with the safe operation of man-lifts and scissor lifts and associated safety requirements.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards and their application on construction projects.
  • Ability to work on-site at solar construction projects and travel to additional project locations as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with utility scale solar construction environments where safety and reliability are paramount.
  • Formal OSHA 30 certification.
  • Training or certification related to rigging and lifting operations.
  • Training or certification related to man-lifts and scissor lifts.
  • Exposure to solar construction projects and familiarity with solar-specific safety considerations.

Work Environment

This position is based on-site at solar construction projects, working closely with field teams in an active construction environment. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
