Job description

Position Summary: Leeco Steel is a leading supplier of carbon, HSLA and alloy steels from premier mills worldwide. Due to continued growth, Leeco is seeking a Safety Manager to assist in the management of all areas related to safety, including training, documentation, audits and more. This position will require some travel to Leeco's facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and support Safety Technicians in the completion of incident and accident investigations, reporting, tracking, and corrective action documentation within the safety management system.
  • Audit warehouse locations for compliance to include, but not limited to the following equipment: inspections for cranes, chains, slings, fire inspections, oxygen tanks, compressors, blasters and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliance and documentation for steel products and other applicable materials.
  • Coordinate vendor(s) for safety supplies such as safety glasses.
  • Maintain training schedule for all contracted training including first aid / CPR / AED, crane operation, forklift, and fire extinguisher.
  • Conduct compliance trainings, safe practices trainings, toolbox talks (Safety Charpy's), and new employee orientation.
  • Serve as a liaison with ONI Safety Group, coordinating communications, meetings, reporting, and follow-up activities.
  • Manage Sales and Corporate Office emergency response plans, evacuation drills, and related safety programs, including First Aid/CPR/AED, stretching, and driving.
  • Tier II reporting and environmental compliance.
  • Update PPE assessments.
  • Manage and oversee any potential changes to all written policies and coordinate with the Quality Team for document control to verify proper header and form numbers.
  • Conduct risk assessments, targeted job safety analysis, SEMs audits.
  • OSHA training.
  • Travel required as needed to conduct training, safety inspections and other safety functions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of safety, environmental health & safety (EHS), or related experience in manufacturing, steel, industrial or distribution environments.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, incident investigation, and risk assessment practices.
  • Experience conducting safety training and audits.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred or ability to obtain.
