Safety Director

Safety Director Location: Cleburne, TX (In-Person)

Schedule: Monday – Friday (Day Shift) + On-Call as necessary

Pay: Dependent on Experience (DOE)

About the Role We are a growing trucking operation specializing in Over-the-Road (OTR) hopperbottom and flatbed transport. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Director to oversee our safety, compliance, and risk management operations. Based at our Cleburne, TX facility, you will lead our efforts in maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and protecting our drivers, equipment, and reputation on the road.

Key Responsibilities Fleet Compliance & Regulations: Oversee DOT and FMCSA compliance across the fleet, including Driver Qualification (DQ) files, Hours of Service (HOS) logs, road testing, and drug/alcohol testing programs.

ELD & Safety Technology Management: Utilize ELD platforms (e.g., Motive, Samsara) and DriveCam systems to monitor fleet activity, track critical safety events, and analyze performance metrics.

Vehicle Inspection & App Workflows: Manage eDVIR (electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) applications to ensure daily pre-trip/post-trip compliance and prompt resolution of vehicle defects.

Driver Training & Onboarding: Design and deliver comprehensive video-based training programs, monthly safety meetings, and individual driver coaching sessions to reduce accidents and violations.

Incidents & Claims: Lead accident investigations, conduct root-cause analyses, handle insurance reporting, and manage post‑incident corrective action plans.

Flatbed & Hopperbottom Operations: Enforce industry‑specific safety standards, including flatbed cargo securement protocols, tarping safety, and hopperbottom loading/unloading safety procedures.

Qualifications & Skills Proven experience in a fleet safety management role within an OTR trucking environment.

Direct hands‑on experience with ELD and video safety technologies (Motive, DriveCam, Samsara, or similar platforms).

Proficiency with eDVIR apps and digital fleet compliance tools.

Experience with video‑based training platforms and safety curriculum development.

Deep understanding of FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and cargo securement regulations (specifically for flatbed and hopperbottom operations).

Strong communication, coaching, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent fleet safety certification is highly preferred, though relevant hands‑on experience will be given strong consideration.
