Position Location
This position is located in Blackstone, VA and is contingent upon contract award.
Job Overview
The Safety Inspector is responsible for identifying potential hazards, evaluating safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Investigate accidents and ensures any needed corrective actions are completed.
  • Perform and documents safety audits reporting findings to Program Manager.
  • Compile an inventory of the identified confined spaces in the organization, including the number of spaces, type and exact location.
  • Report newly identified confined spaces or changes on the inventory to ensure proper testing, evaluation and classification of each confined space within the organization.
  • Identify confined spaces program shortfalls.
  • Coordinate between each shop in the organization who enters confined spaces.
  • Issue entry permits consistent with the organizational written confined space program.
  • Cancel any entry permit if aware of a prohibited or unexpected condition.
  • Evaluate all equipment for use to ensure effectiveness against identified hazards.
  • Ensure required equipment needed to conduct safe entry into a permit-required space is properly maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Degree Environmental Health and Safety or have a current certifications in the following: OSHA 10 & 30, HAZWOPER 40, EM-385-1-1.
  • Must be well versed on OSHA reporting requirements.
  • HAZWOPER 40 and EM-385-1-1 certification are required.
  • Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years in major Industrial complex or construction projects working in the Safety Department.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience as Safety inspector.
  • Top Secret Security Clearance.
