Our client is seeking a Safety Inspector to support the construction of a new hospital in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of construction industry safety experience, OSHA 30, First Aid & CPR certification, and a BCSP certification is a plus. Must have strong electrical safety background. This position is onsite.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of construction safety, field safety inspection, or EHS experience on commercial, healthcare, mission-critical, or institutional construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout procedures, energized work requirements, electrical hazard analysis, LOTO procedures, arc-flash awareness, and electrical shutdowns and energizations.
- Experience conducting field inspections, investigating incidents, identifying hazards, and verifying corrective actions.
- Familiarity with JHAs, AHAs, MOP reviews, pre-task planning, and supporting commissioning or electrical energization activities.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required; CHST, STS, NFPA 70E training, or other electrical safety certifications preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Facility Grid, or similar construction management software

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, project safety requirements, and company policies, documenting findings and verifying corrective actions.
- Monitor electrical work including LOTO, temporary power, energized work, electrical permits, and medium-low voltage distribution activities.
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), pre-task plans, permits, and MOPs (Method of Procedure) to ensure high-risk work activities are planned and executed safely.
- Monitor high-risk construction activities—including energized electrical work, equipment startup, commissioning, fall protection, crane operations, excavation, and confined spaces—to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and project safety standards.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection reports, incident investigations, corrective action logs, and daily field observations.
- Partner with project management, superintendents, and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture through field coaching, safety meetings, orientations, and toolbox talks.
