Job description

The Data Analyst will work on site at our corporate office in Ft Lauderdale Florida and is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from vehicle telematics systems to improve the safety, efficiency, and cost performance of Hotwire Communications' fleet. This role transforms raw GPS, engine, fuel, and driver-behavior data into actionable insights that guide day-to-day operations and long-term fleet strategy. The Data Analyst partners with operations, safety, and maintenance teams to reduce operating costs, improve vehicle utilization, support regulatory compliance, and strengthen the company's fleet risk management and insurance programs across all markets.
Duties / Responsibilities:
  1. Collect, validate, and analyze telematics data-including GPS location, fuel consumption, engine diagnostics, idle time, and driver behavior-across the fleet to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  2. Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports on key fleet metrics, including utilization, fuel efficiency, driver safety scores, and maintenance flags.
  3. Monitor daily telematics exceptions and anomalies, investigating issues such as route deviations, excessive idling, and unexpected downtime, and recommend corrective actions.
  4. Support preventive maintenance scheduling by tracking mileage, engine hours, and diagnostic trouble codes.
  5. Partner with Operations, Safety, and Maintenance teams to translate data findings into policy and process improvements.
  6. Analyze driver-behavior data and support coaching programs to reduce harsh braking, speeding, and other risk events.
  7. Manage telematics device installations, configurations, and data integrity; troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues with vendors.
  8. Track and report on regulatory compliance data, including hours-of-service and electronic logging device (ELD) records, as applicable.
  9. Conduct cost analyses on fuel, maintenance, and vehicle lifecycle to support budgeting and procurement decisions.
  10. Optimize routing and scheduling using telematics insights to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  11. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for telematics data collection, reporting, and quality control.
  12. Evaluate and recommend telematics platforms, tools, and integrations to enhance reporting accuracy and automation.
  13. Prepare and present findings and recommendations to operations leadership and other stakeholders.
  14. Support audits and risk assessments related to fleet performance, safety, and asset utilization.
  15. Analyze accident, incident, and claims data to identify loss trends and support the company's fleet insurance program and policy renewals.
  16. Build risk-scoring and exposure reports that inform premium negotiations, loss-prevention initiatives, and targeted safety interventions.
  17. Partner with Risk Management and Insurance teams to provide telematics and safety data supporting claims, subrogation, and audits.
  18. Ensure data security and proper handling of fleet and driver information in compliance with company policies.
  19. Other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related field required
  • 2+ years of experience in fleet operations, logistics, or data analysis
  • Proficiency with telematics / fleet management platforms (e.g., Geotab, Samsara, Verizon Connect, or similar)
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and/or SQL
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, ELD requirements, and transportation safety standards
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with fleet risk management, insurance, or claims data preferred
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel up to 15%
