  • As a key member of the Systems Engineering & Safety Science Team, the Manager of Safety Science and Data Analytics will lead a team of Safety Scientists and Analysts.
  • This role is responsible for delivering technical and managerial guidance in the development and implementation of decision support and simulation models, custom statistical analysis, and forecasting and business intelligence systems.
  • The position involves collaborating with Safety and Operations business units to enhance safety outcomes and operational efficiency through advanced data analytics and modeling.

What you'll do

  • Manages a team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Provides technical leadership and strategic direction for safety-related data solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder requirements.
  • Supports safety initiatives through the development and application of advanced dependability models and comprehensive analyses.
  • Identifies and evaluates new methodologies and approaches to solve complex business and technical problems across various departments.
  • Oversees the application of forecasting, mathematical programming, machine learning, optimization techniques, simulation, stochastic modeling, and statistical analysis to develop practical and impactful solutions.
  • Leads the creation of innovative, industry-leading safety solutions from concept through to production, including idea generation, requirement gathering, prototyping, business case development, customer adoption, change management, and transition to operational status.
  • Initiates and leads collaborative research projects with academic institutions and government agencies to advance the field and support company objectives.
  • Cultivates and maintains effective partnerships with business operations teams and development groups, ensuring seamless integration of research and development efforts into business processes.

All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related technical field, or other equivalent experience/training
  • 3-5 years of relevant technical, or business, work experience
  • Experience leading direct reports
  • Experience overseeing data projects from inception to completion, including defining requirements, managing timelines, and delivering results.
  • Strong understanding of various machine learning algorithms, statistical methods, and data analysis techniques.

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • MS Degree in a related technical field, or other equivalent experience/training
  • 5-10 years of relevant technical, or business, work experience
  • Proven experience in building, developing, and leading high-performing teams within a fast-paced, rapidly scaling business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and align internal and external partners as well as facilitating clear communication and collaboration between workgroups to ensure strategic objectives are well understood and effectively executed.
