Job description

Job Summary:

The Safety Data Analyst role will be responsible for managing, ensuring the integrity of, and strategically using safety-related data across the organization. This position supports data-driven decision-making by ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and usability of information from multiple safety platforms, including incident management and inspection systems. Operating in a dynamic day-to-day environment, this professional partners closely with Safety, Operations, and Leadership teams across the business to translate complex metrics into actionable insights, visual dashboards, and risk-reduction strategies that drive continuous performance improvement. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for safety data systems, maintaining system configurations and ensuring absolute data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all inspection and incident management platforms.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain rigid data governance standards, managing proactive validation, auditing, and quality control processes to quickly eliminate reporting delays or system gaps.
  • Analyze complex safety data sets to identify emerging risk patterns, predictive trends, lagging incident rates, and critical leading indicators.
  • Design, build, and continuously optimize interactive data dashboards and reporting frameworks tailored for Safety and Operations leaders.
  • Standardize core reporting formats and key performance indicators (KPIs) across all geographic regions and business units to ensure organizational alignment.
  • Translate highly technical, complex safety data into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for executive leadership and dedicated project teams.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Risk Management, HR, Training, and Operations teams to align analytical capabilities with broader business reporting requirements.
  • Support active incident investigations, compliance audits, and external regulatory documentation requests with timely, accurate data extractions.
  • Train and upskill end-users on proper system utilization and data-entry practices to improve overall data quality directly at the collection source

Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, transform, cleanse, and normalize unstructured data from multiple disconnected systems using ETL tools (e.g., Power Query, SQL, Alteryx, Power BI Dataflows, Python).
  • Advanced proficiency in leveraging database tools and automation resources, including SQL and Power Automate.
  • Strong technical background creating impactful data visualization layouts within platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Snowflake.
  • Superior analytical and structural problem-solving skills, with a track record of translating complex technical formulas into highly consumable briefs for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to administrative detail and data validation precision.
  • Foundational knowledge of environment, health, and safety (EHS) performance metrics, including leading/lagging indicators and OSHA recordkeeping frameworks.

Education and Experience:

Required: 

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience within a data-focused analytical role.

  • Verifiable experience navigating and managing enterprise EHS information systems (e.g., VelocityEHS, Intelex, Gensuite).

Desired: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a matching technical or engineering discipline.

  • Previous experience working within a fast-paced Construction, Safety, Risk Management, or heavy industrial corporate environment.

Travel Requirements:

Travel to field, shop, or project site environments may be required 10-20% of the time. 

Hours:

This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours are scheduled between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm with the position's supervisor.  

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged sitting and regular walking.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

Competitive Wages:

$90,000 to $125,000 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
