Position Statement:
Data analyst is responsible for compiling, organizing, and analyzing data to assist in optimal healthcare decision making. Contributes and participates in delivering data and analysis across the enterprise. Data management, development and maintenance of databases, and participating in projects aimed at tracking and improving performance and patient outcomes is a central focus.
Data analyst is a support to the Manager of Analytics and the Executive Director of Quality and Patient Safety. Data analyst supports the organization by accurately measuring performance, understanding key drivers, and identifying opportunities for improvement. This work includes collaborating with clinical and operational leaders to design the right metrics and analyses, as well as developing insights that will inform critical decisions by senior leadership.
Functions:
  • Assists in the development of monthly Hospital, Departmental, and Unit Quality and Safety dashboards; Patient Experience dashboards and other key dashboards such as Falls, HAPI, Pain, etc.
  • Creates, reviews and utilizes tracking systems to determine and report status of data and follows up to collect outstanding information and resolve issues
  • Analyzes clinical and administrative data and applies appropriate statistical and analytical techniques to provide detailed findings and solutions to clinical teams.
  • Presents statistical concepts in a clear and meaningful way to clinical and administrative staff, by creating reports and presentations on a regular basis.
  • Provides data and analysis for internal and external reporting to entities such as, The Joint Commission, Department of Public Health, Massachusetts Hospital Association, NDNQI, Board of Registration in Medicine/Nursing, Institute for Healthcare Improvement and other regulatory programs.
  • Provides quality overview and consistency check on all clinical data.
  • Assists with event reporting system contract, software upgrades and dashboard management including regular reporting to the organization on status of utilization and trends
  • Responsible for running quality reports for Medical Staff Office for biannual OPPE/FPPE process.
  • Utilizes Continuous Improvement efforts within the organization

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years related work experience required
  • Experience with Data Analytics, Excel, Tableau, PowerPoint
  • Advanced technical computer skills
