Job description

Chesapeake Contracting Group is a value-added commercial general contractor providing services

throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Our Safety Program is the foundation on which our Core Values are built, and focuses on compliance, culture and education. Our team considers no phase of operations or administration of greater importance than accident prevention and the safety of our associates and partners. We are seeking a dynamic Safety Professional with a go-getter attitude and excellent communication skills to help take our Safety Program to the next level.

As the Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting our Safety Department and Field Operations to ensure workplace safety, implementing safety programs, conducting safety inspections, and providing training to employees on safety procedures and protocols.

Key Safety Responsibilities:

  • Support all safety efforts on the construction projects and promote CCG’s Safety Culture.
  • Ensure sub-contractor activities are pre planned for, including safety items through scope review, pre-construction meetings, JHA’s review, etc..
  • Ensure all Sub-contractors meet CCG’s safety submittal requirements.
  • Assist and help maintain all safety related documentation for the construction projects
  • Ensure Sub-contractor compliance with CCG's safety plan and expectations, in addition to, OSHA, federal, state, and other regulatory codes and guidelines.
  • Make safety or health recommendations concerning situational hazards to associates and workers.
  • Use Procore to audit and monitor project team’s implementation of the Project Specific Safety Plan (PSSP).
  • Perform at least one safety walk a week on the assigned projects utilizing a Mock OSHA Investigation.
  • Assist in provide safety training to projects associates and Sub-contractors to meet clients and OSHA requirements as needed.
  • Ensure all construction project teams have the appropriate safety equipment and resources that they need

  • Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers and user groups through reflection and support CCG's core values which meets or exceeds the customer's expectations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/board certification in Safety, or a related field, preferred
  • 1 year of relevant safety experience
  • Excellent communication skills and strong ability to develop relationships
  • Working knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations and policies.
  • Capable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending corrective actions.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Suite.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle a varied and changing workload
  • Proven ability to identify and solve problems
  • Independent, self-managed, and self-starter personality
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • 1st Aid / CPR and AED Qualified
