CTR Group is seeking a Safety Assistant III for a Ship Repair Company in the Norfolk, VA area. A great career opportunity!


Pay Rate: $30 or higher per Hour with Benefits

A First shift position



SUMMARY:

Seeking a Safety Assistant III to support both the Ship Repair Company's office and shipyard locations in the Hampton Roads area. As a Safety Assistant III you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter while supporting installation and modernization of US Navy, Coast Guard and Military Sealift Command platforms. This role requires engaging with the workforce, provide training and re-enforcement of sound safety practices.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.

Conducts EH&S surveillances at jobsites and document all findings in accordance with (IAW) Company policies.

Provides feedback to entire value stream through identifying good behaviors and areas of weaknesses, while implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Provides training to workforce on Company, local, state, federal, and relevant NAVSEA policies and procedures unique to each installation.

Must be able to obtain and maintain access to a variety of private shipyards and government facilities in support of installation activities.

Assist the waterfront workforce and team leaders in aspects of environmental compliance such as tracking usage and emissions of a variety of hazardous substances.

Exercise the ability to operate independently and provide input for process improvement to better protect the workforce and enhance Company's ability to meet customer expectations.

 

Education: AS/AA degree or equivalent experience

Experience: 3+ years of related experience

Technical Certifications / Trainings: OSHA 10 Maritime, Shipyard Competent Person (SCP) IAW NAVSEA 009-07, Fall Protection (29 CFR 1915), Respirator Fit (29 CFR 1910.134), Hot Work Permit Authorizing Individual (PAI) IAW NAVSEA 009-08

Required skills and abilities: Excellent communication, time management, knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental regulations, Microsoft office familiarity
