Job description

Event Worker
Full Stipend: $50/game
All event workers earn $50 per event.  Sports such as field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, cross country, and track and field typically count as two events (varsity/junior varsity and boys/girls.)  Events may start as early as 3:00 PM on school days and 9:00 AM on weekends.  

The following are description of jobs that are possible under the title of "event worker."

Ticket Seller

  • Arrive for the event anywhere from 30-60 minutes prior to the start of the event
  • Use the digital ticketing platform to sell and scan tickets
  • Collect cash from patrons if they choose not to use the online platform
  • Ticket booth remains open until certain progress through events
    • Halftime of varsity (or second event) for soccer, field hockey, football, lacrosse, basketball
    • End of 4th inning of baseball and softball games
    • Completion of second set of volleyball matches
    • Completion of 7 bouts during varsity wrestling matches
  • Most events count as two events (except football, flag football, baseball and softball)
  • Events can be after school, evenings and weekends/holidays

Scoreboard Operator

  • Operators are needed for football, flag football, baseball, softball, field hockey, soccer and lacrosse
  • Must have a basic understanding of the sports while running scoreboard
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start of event(s) in order to get the scoreboard started and running
  • Shut down equipment at conclusion of the event
  • Help with any clean up if needed (chairs, removal of tables, shutting down of press box, etc)
  • May need to make basic announcements via PA system for varsity/junior varsity level games
    • General announcements, starting lineups, national anthem

Chain Crew

  • Needed for football and flag football games
  • Work the sideline chains for first downs and ball placement
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before start of contest
  • Will have to work these events in ALL weather conditions
  • Basic knowledge of football helpful but not necessary
  • Clean up distance chains and yard marker and return to garage at the end of the game
  • Games can be after school, nights, and weekends

Announcer

  • Provide information before and during events
  • Play by play used for varsity football and basketball games
  • Other events provide general information, starting lineups/players at bat, announcing goals, etc
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start of varsity game to gather player and starter information
  • Games can be after school, nights, and weekends
  • Help with any clean up if needed (chairs, removal of tables, shutting down of press box, etc)

Track and Field Workers

  • Facilitate various events for track meets
    • Record names, times, distances and heights
    • Adjusting heights for events such as high jump
    • Raking pits for long/triple jump
    • Using stopwatches to record times for middle school events
    • Measuring distances using tape measures for various field events
  • Most events take place after school
  • Arrival at least 15 minutes before start of meet
  • Workers stay through the completion of event worked

Cross Country Workers

  • Arrive at least 15-30 minutes before start of first race
  • Use the ticker tape stopwatch to record finishing times of middle school runners
  • Record times of runners on placement sheets
  • May also be placed throughout the course to help with runner directions and traffic control
  • Work through the end of the second race

Swimming

  • Running the timing and scoring system for meets
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start
  • Must be trained on the timing system


This contract is for the 2026-2027school year.
Successful external applicants must submit valid and current Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 clearances less than 1 year old as of their start date. The successful candidate must submit a health record and TB Test less than 90 days old as of their start date prior to starting.
