Job description

American Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are seeking a Running Program Director/Head Coach (6-12 Cross Country/Track & Field) who is passionate about both running and helping students grow physically, spiritually, socially, and intellectually.

Compensation is a seasonal stipend per season.

Nature of the Role
This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. The Running Program Director/Head Coach (6-12 Cross Country/Track & Field) is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to overseeing all aspects of the cross country and track and field teams for boys and girls in grades 6-12, as well as the elementary school running program; guide coaches and parent volunteers; uphold the mission and standards of American Heritage School.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a running background. Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Experience with track and field and cross country
  • Experience coaching
  • An enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning
  • The ability to use sports as a tool to build better disciples of Jesus Christ and Christian character.
  • A commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Strong communication and management skills


Faith and Mission Responsibilities
In addition to Running Program Director/Head Coach (6-12 Cross Country/Track & Field) responsibilities, the successful candidate is expected to:

  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into athletics administration where appropriate
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission

Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off campus.
