Job description

Rural Physicians Group (RPG) is looking for a hospitalist to join our team at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT! We are looking for someone that is passionate about rural medicine, looking to make a difference in medically underserved communities and wants to enjoy a flexible schedule with more autonomy.

We are on a mission to help rural hospitals meet the needs of the people they serve. Our expansive network of passionate, experienced hospitalists, surgicalists and APPs works full-time to solve the healthcare crisis in rural communities, partnering with hospitals to offer continuity of care and improved patient outcomes.

Location: Springfield Hospital, Inc.

Hospital Location: Springfield, Vermont

Brief Description:

A 25-bed critical access hospital located in rural Vermont with 10-bed distinct part unit for mental health.

Community Size: Springfield, VT-9,000. Hospital service area 25,000.

Local Industries/Economy: Springfield, Vermont, is a historic mill and manufacturing town in Windsor County, known for its machine tool industry and innovation. the town features natural attractions like waterfalls and parks, alongside cultural attractions.

Credentialing: 30-90 days 

Schedule: 7-10, 24-hour shifts/month 

Call: 24/7 call coverage  

Details: Critical Access Hospital 

  • ICU Beds: 0
  • Acute Beds: Licensed for 25 acute beds- staff to approximately 16
  • Swing Beds: Included in 25 acute beds count
  • Average Daily Census: 6.9
  • Max Census: 25, 16 staffed and 10 inpatient psych (offsite)
  • Average Daily Discharges: 2
  • Avg LOS: Med/Surg 3.8

Acuity: Telemetry, Progressive Care (insulin gtts, dilt, drips) Med-Surg, Swing Level 1 and 2

ER Volume: Avg 36-37 per day

Subspecialty Support: General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Gynecology, Uro-Gynecology, and Podiatry are all in house M-F normal business hours. Night and weekend coverage may vary.

Anesthesia is offsite call after hours, weekends 

Ancillary Services: RT, Imaging, Lab, PT/OT/ST- M-F unless weekend request is mad in advance

EMR: CPSI, T-System, Allscripts

Experience + Qualifications 

  •  Minimum 1 year of experience practicing autonomously
  •  Vent Management
  •  Central Lines
  •  Lumbar Puncture
  •  Paracentesis/Thoracentesis
  •  Intubations
  •  Active VT License or the ability to obtain 

 Compensation & Benefits 

  •  Independent Contractor (1099) 
  •  Malpractice Insurance Covered by RPG 
  •  Providers have a private space with bathroom and shower

Base Model:

-          Base comp of $1,800/shift

-          Travel of $100/shift

-          Eligible for Prime

Prime Value Incentive - Provide 10 or more shifts in a calendar month.

Per Shift Prime Bonus: $100.00 per shift in addition to shift rate

Quarterly Prime Bonus: $3000.00, achieves Prime Status for 3 consecutive months in the quarter.

wRVU RPG model:

-          Base comp of $2,200/shift

-          Travel of $100/shift

-          Eligible for Prime

-          Quarterly wRVU threshold = 13.5/shift

-          wRVU payment of $29.69 for every wRVU over the quarterly wRVU threshold             (based on current hospital volume, you would earn about $100/shift in                     additional wRVU pay paid quarterly)
