What are some common challenges faced by professionals working with RPG and EDI systems, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working with RPG and EDI systems often encounter challenges such as integrating legacy IBM iSeries applications with modern platforms, managing complex data mapping requirements, and ensuring data security during electronic transactions. Addressing these issues typically involves staying updated on current EDI standards, collaborating closely with business analysts to understand data flows, and leveraging middleware or integration tools to bridge system gaps. Regular communication with both IT teams and external trading partners is essential to resolve issues quickly and maintain smooth data exchanges.

What are RPG EDI developers?

RPG EDI developers are IT professionals who specialize in integrating Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions using the RPG programming language, mainly on IBM i (AS/400) systems. They create, maintain, and troubleshoot applications that automatically exchange business documents, such as invoices or purchase orders, between organizations. Their work ensures seamless, efficient, and accurate data transfer, supporting business operations and compliance with partner requirements. RPG EDI developers often collaborate with business analysts and external partners to implement and optimize EDI processes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an RPG EDI Developer, and why are they important?
