Job description

Route Delivery Driver

As the premium provider of drinking water and water treatment services for the greater part of a century, Hall's Culligan continues to innovate and expand our business nationwide by offering tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of each customer backed by our superior Culligan service.

As a Route Delivery Driver, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of Culligan drinking water and associated products to customers on a predetermined route. This role will be customer-facing and requires the Driver to consult with customers to determine the products and/or amount of products necessary to meet their need. The ideal candidate for this role will understand effective route planning, have excellent driving skills, and will be committed to delivering exceptional Culligan service.

What you'll do:

Route planning and execution:

  • Prepare the delivery vehicle each day before leaving the warehouse to ensure it is loaded correctly; familiarize yourself with the route layout and customers' requests to complete the scheduled route.
  • Complete all deliveries on route as scheduled.
  • Ensure route optimization by identifying challenges or roadblocks ahead of time to complete the route in the most efficient manner.

Customer service:

  • Interact with customers while representing the company in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Address customer questions or concerns during deliveries.

Product knowledge:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the products being delivered and the proper product handling associated with bottled water, PE tanks, salt, and additional products as applicable.
  • Provide information about products to customers when necessary.

Documentation:

  • Complete customer agreements and route sheets accurately and legibly.
  • Perform payment collection from customers; promptly turn in customer payments and daily activity sheets to the office staff at the end of each workday.
  • Adhere to the proper utilization of handheld palm units, while entering accurate information concerning the customer and abiding by all rules concerning its use.

Safety:

  • Operate delivery vehicles safely; adhere to traffic rules and DOT regulations.
  • Perform Daily Vehicle Inspections (DVIR's) and report any issues to management.

Where you'll work:

Culligan Drivers spend much of their time out in the field delivering to both commercial and residential customers – this means you'll spend extensive time driving and getting in and out of the route truck. Our Drivers deliver in rain or shine and must be comfortable being exposed to various weather conditions. This role is labor intensive and requires strong physical stamina.

Technically speaking, the ideal candidate for this role will be highly customer oriented, comfortable managing their time and solving problems, and will remain adaptable and flexible throughout their shift to accommodate customer and business needs. Commitment to safe driving and ability to work with technology, such as a smartphone and GPS navigation, will be crucial to success in this role.

Your qualifications:

  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in large deliveries
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a heavy lifting/loading environment
  • Must be able to successfully pass a DOT Physical & DOT Drug Screen.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check per Company requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older and be able to successfully pass, and maintain, a driving record check to be insurable by the Company to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to safely operate/drive company vehicles up to 26,001 lbs. daily for approximately 8-10 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 90lbs on a repetitive basis.
  • Must remain physically capable, with or without reasonable accommodation, of performing the duties required of this position.
