Overview

We are seeking a Project Engineer with a technical or academic background in electrical construction. We have opportunities throughout our organization and are committed to providing rotational assignments, mentoring, and coaching across our business units, including preconstruction, new construction, estimating, special projects, tenant improvements, low voltage, and critical facilities. Your work will focus on supporting assigned projects by providing a variety of project management support, with responsibilities that will include cost control and financial reporting, estimating, submittal preparation, change order development and presentation, correspondence, drawing updates, issue resolution, and project management support.


Responsibilities

As a Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for assisting with the coordination of projects and supporting the project team, comprised of field supervision, project resources, and support department staff, as directed by the Project Manager. You’ll assist in monitoring project planning, execution and closure, and all project functions as they relate to quality control and project management.

Additional responsibilities for this role include:

  • Establishing and maintaining project management files, drawing sets, and updated drawings
  • Estimating material takeoffs and using McCormick for change order development
  • Developing and tracking change orders
  • Formulating and tracking Requests for Information (RFI’s)
  • Researching, creating and tracking submittals and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manual materials
  • Assists in creating and monitoring field installation work packages and overall schedule progress.
  • Supporting budget management and assisting with financial reporting
  • Representing the company and project in meetings with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others
  • Adhering to established company protocol to meet all project requirements for documenting, measuring, tracking, and resolving project issues
  • Assisting with job billing preparation and substantiations as needed
  • Assisting Project Managers and Field Supervisors with additional tasks as needed


Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with construction industry experience. 3+ years of electrical construction is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or construction management is strongly preferred. Strong project management skills with ability to manage project priorities and documentation is required.

Skills and Abilities

Success in this role requires Great attention to detail and understanding of general construction terminology. You’ll need well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills, and a strong desire to learn. Those who are self-starters capable of working both independently and as a member of a team will do well in this role.
