Position Summary
Feed mill with logs from wood yard as designated by a wood storage and use schedule. Unloads incoming log trucks into wood storage.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates Portal Crane and other mobile equipment and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Completes mobile equipment operator's report daily.
  • Notifies Maintenance Department and/or shift supervisor of operating deficiencies noted during inspections and/or operations.
  • Unloads log trucks and places into wood storage inventory as directed by scalers.
  • Builds stacks that are uniform and neat.
  • Keep stray logs picked up and clear of both sets of rails.
  • Removes logs from wood storage and places on in feed decks.
  • Assists in keeping logs straight on in feed decks.
  • Maintains communication with wood scaler
  • Adheres to wood storage and wood rotation schedule.
  • Ensures safety of log truck drivers by monitoring position of trucks and location and activities of truck drivers and providing verbal instructions as needed via radio.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintains operations by reading, interpreting, and applying complex written instructions in the form of Standard Operating procedures and other written instructions.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 0 to 3 Years Manufacturing Experience.

  • 0 to 3 Years crane operator experience preferred

  • Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordination.

  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays per shift schedule
