Machines: CNC Horizontal Boring Mills
Controls: Fanuc / Tosnuc
Specialized tooling: Cogsdill contouring heads • Right-angle heads

Why join Rotating Machinery Services?

Rotating Machinery Services (RMS) provides specialty machining, repair, maintenance and overhaul services for large, highly engineered turbomachinery. At its Tomball facility, RMS is looking for an experienced CNC HBM Machinist who can take ownership of close-tolerance finish machining work on components used across multiple industries.

This is not a basic machine-operating position. You will work with CNC horizontal boring mills, Fanuc/Tosnuc controls, Cogsdill contouring heads and right-angle heads to perform drilling, boring, tapping and thread milling operations. You must be comfortable reading drawings, understanding CNC programs and inspecting your own work throughout the machining process.

RMS was established in 1998 and has grown into a multi-facility provider serving a diverse global customer base. The company supports critical rotating equipment—including compressors, turbines and expanders—with engineering, machining, repair and advanced metrology capabilities.

⚙️ What you’ll be doing

  • Perform finish machining operations, including drilling, boring, tapping and thread milling
  • Set up and operate CNC horizontal boring mills
  • Maintain close tolerances on a wide variety of components
  • Use Cogsdill contouring heads and right-angle heads
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and work instructions
  • Read, understand and verify CNC programs before and during production
  • Make adjustments needed to maintain dimensions and finished-part quality
  • Complete in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers and indicators
  • Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues
  • Work with supervisors and other team members to complete jobs on schedule
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area

Preferred:

  • Previous job shop machining experience
  • Experience troubleshooting complex finish-machining operations
  • Experience working on components for rotating equipment or other heavy industrial applications

Why you’ll like working here

You will be trusted to do more than load parts and press cycle start. This position calls for an experienced HBM machinist who can understand the program, select the right approach, monitor the machining process and verify that the finished component meets requirements.
