Description
Job Title: Room Service Operator (Part-Time)
Shift: Varied
Location: Blue Coyote Cafe at Talking Stick Resort
Department: Food and Beverage
Reports To: Dining Shift Supervisor
Summary
Answers all incoming calls from in room guests ordering food and beverage, verifying name, room number, order and estimated delivery time. Processes all calls professionally and courteously.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (other duties may be assigned)
  • Answers the phone using the guest name, as it appears on the phone screen, verifying the name and room number;
  • Takes the guests' food and beverage order, repeating the order back for accuracy. Inputs order into the POS system for the kitchen to prepare;
  • Gives the guest an estimated delivery time;
  • Helps in the tray/cart set-up, ensuring that proper utensils and condiments are included;
  • Processes all signed guest checks through the POS system;
  • Places call backs to guests to ensure that the guest was satisfied with their order.
    • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Credit Card Compliance requirements commonly known as PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance by attending training provided by Casino Arizona, at least once a year or more if required by management. Signature verification of course attendance will be required.
    • Responsible for following the PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance regulations to protect card holder data and adhere to the standards to protect guests' private card information. This includes, but is not limited to, observing and reporting inappropriate card handling activity, of either customers or by employees, as defined by PCI.

Education and/or Experience
HS/GED required. Previous and similar work experience within an upscale high volume hotel/resort establishment required. Must have working knowledge of POS systems used in hotels/restaurants. Knowledge of Arizona State Liquor Laws - Title 4 and/or Arizona Alcohol Awareness certification a plus.
Computer Skills:
Basic PC skills are required as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and hotel property operating systems (Visual One preferred).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must possess a Maricopa County Food Handler's Card.
Other Qualifications
Must possess a pleasant personality and have excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work harmoniously with others and be a team player.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, secondary smoke and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
