Position Summary:


This position is recognized as a Senior Strategic Buyer and is responsible for procurement of direct materials and services especially for casting commodities in support of engine production and aftersales / service of engine components in North America.

What you will be doing?

  • Process purchasing award summaries and purchasing documents for suppliers directly related to production material.
  • Assist in the development of International Commodity Team strategies that align with Global/Regional Purchasing and Logistics Objectives
  • Manage cross-functional projects on time and within budget.
  • Develop sourcing lists and monitor supplier performance.
  • Aggressively resolve all pricing, invoicing and contract related issues with the suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and annual contracts with suppliers.
  • Evaluate and select new suppliers based on common practices and based on negotiated agreements focused on price, quality, delivery and other required services.
  • Maintain open communication between internal departments, management, and suppliers.
  • Support cost savings initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of a standardized process approach utilizing digitalization, common forms, measurements, and structure.
  • Forecast annual material, purchasing volumes, annual savings, tooling costs and repair budget.
  • Perform special projects as required.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Adhere to company/professional ethics governing the handling of confidential information and the observation of confidentiality.
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Materials Management, or Business Finance, and 5 years of procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management experience; or 9 years of experience in procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience handling confidential sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Ability to travel - domestic and international and work flexible hours.
  • This is a Hybrid role per Rolls-Royce HR Policy. Minimum of 2 days per week onsite.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Experience in purchasing of Casting products for heavy industrial applications.
  • Excellent working knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
  • Excellent financial/cost analysis and problem-solving skills when issues are very complex.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, supply chain and/or materials management processes
  • Strong global knowledge of suppliers and international/domestic activities
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
  • Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills, and the ability to understand the needs of the internal customer.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Strong ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Specific knowledge of Off-Highway Diesel Engine commodities, materials and products
  • SAP experience
  • Working knowledge of Foundry practice and processes.
  • Ability to review 2D drawings / 3D models with understanding of technical requirements and Casting / Machining processes which meet the required specifications.
