A rockhound is someone who collects, identifies, and studies rocks, minerals, and fossils, often as a hobby or profession. Some rockhounds work in geology, mining, or lapidary fields, while others enjoy prospecting and trading specimens. Their job may involve fieldwork, researching formations, and using tools to extract and classify geological finds. Many rockhounds also polish and cut stones for jewelry or display.
