Robotics Recruitment information

What is robotics recruitment?

Robotics recruitment is the specialized process of finding, attracting, and hiring professionals for roles within the robotics industry. This includes positions such as robotics engineers, automation specialists, software developers, and other technical or non-technical roles related to robotics development and deployment. Recruitment in this field often requires a good understanding of both robotics technologies and the specific skill sets needed for various roles. Recruiters may work directly for robotics companies or as part of specialized staffing agencies. The demand for robotics talent is growing rapidly as industries increasingly adopt automation and robotics solutions.

What are the main challenges faced by professionals working in robotics recruitment?

Recruiters specializing in robotics often face the challenge of sourcing candidates with highly specialized technical skills, such as expertise in AI, machine learning, or mechatronics, which are in high demand and short supply. Additionally, understanding the rapidly evolving landscape of robotics technologies is crucial to accurately assess candidates and match them with appropriate roles. Building strong relationships with hiring managers and technical teams is also essential to ensure alignment on job requirements and team culture. Staying current with industry trends and fostering talent pipelines are ongoing aspects of the role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in robotics recruitment, and why are they important?

To excel in Robotics Recruitment, you need a solid understanding of robotics engineering concepts, talent acquisition best practices, and experience with recruiting for technical roles, often supported by a degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruitment marketing platforms, and professional networking tools like LinkedIn Recruiter is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to communicate complex technical requirements clearly are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure you can effectively identify, attract, and secure top robotics talent in a highly competitive and specialized industry.

What is the difference between Robotics Recruitment vs Robotics Engineer?

AspectRobotics RecruitmentRobotics Engineer
Required CredentialsRecruitment certifications, HR experienceEngineering degrees, technical certifications
Work EnvironmentHR offices, recruitment agenciesResearch labs, manufacturing plants
Employer & Industry UsageUsed by HR and staffing firms in tech/engineering sectorsUsed by tech companies, research institutions
Common Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding recruitment roles in roboticsTechnical roles in robotics development

Robotics Recruitment focuses on sourcing and hiring robotics professionals, requiring HR and recruitment expertise. Robotics Engineers design and develop robotic systems, requiring technical engineering skills. While both roles are integral to the robotics industry, they serve different functions—one in talent acquisition, the other in technical development.

Is it hard to get a job in robotics?

Getting a job in robotics can be competitive, as it often requires a strong background in engineering, programming, and relevant skills such as working with sensors or automation tools. Candidates with a relevant degree, hands-on experience, and certifications in robotics or related fields tend to have better prospects.

Job description

WHAT YOU DO AT AMD CHANGES EVERYTHING

At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next‑generation computing experiences—from AI and data centers, to PCs, gaming and embedded systems. Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuity and a shared passion to create something extraordinary. When you join AMD, you’ll discover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Robotics Simulation Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for selecting and advancing simulation architecture solutions tailored for robotic systems. This role requires a deep understanding of robotics simulation stacks, including digital twin development, sim‑to‑real/real‑to‑sim pipelines, cloud‑based simulation infrastructure, and AI integration within autonomous environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to build and refine robust pipelines for transferring learned behaviors, sensor models, and physics parameters between simulation and real‑world robotic systems, minimizing the reality gap through domain randomization and adaptation techniques.
  • Architect and deploy scalable simulation infrastructure on cloud platforms, ensuring seamless parallel simulation runs, distributed training environments, and on‑demand access optimized for robotic use cases with low latency and high performance.
  • Provide technical leadership in integrating AI/ML frameworks into simulation environments, enabling reinforcement learning, synthetic data generation, autonomous behavior training, and intelligent environment modeling.
  • Design and implement SIL testing frameworks to validate robotic software stacks—including perception, planning, and control modules—within simulated environments.
  • Develop and maintain HIL testing setups that interface real hardware components with simulated environments, ensuring real‑time performance validation, system integrity, and hardware‑software compatibility verification.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in robotics simulation frameworks, automation, AI/ML integration, and sim‑to‑real methodologies, offering insights and recommendations to continuously enhance simulation capabilities.
Preferred Experience
  • Simulation Platforms: Proven experience in simulation architecture using platforms such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, Webots, or Unreal Engine, tailored to specific robotic applications.
  • Digital Twin Frameworks: Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience developing and maintaining digital twin models for robotic systems, including real‑time state synchronization and physics calibration.
  • Sim‑to‑Real & Real‑to‑Sim Pipelines: Experience designing domain randomization strategies, sensor noise modeling, and physics engine calibration to bridge the gap between simulation and real‑world deployment.
  • Cloud Simulation Infrastructure: Expertise in architecting and deploying simulation environments on cloud platforms including containerized and distributed simulation workflows.
  • AI/ML Integration: Experience integrating machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Isaac Lab, or similar) into simulation pipelines for policy training, synthetic data generation, and autonomous behavior development.
  • SIL & HIL Testing: Hands‑on experience designing and executing Software‑in‑the‑Loop and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop testing workflows, including real‑time simulation interfacing and embedded system integration.
  • Robotics Frameworks: Proven experience with ROS and ROS2 in simulation and real‑world robotic deployments.
  • Problem‑Solving Skills: Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail in debugging complex hardware‑software‑simulation interactions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional team environment with strong written and verbal communication skills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
Location
  • Austin, TX
  • Santa Clara, CA
  • Other locations are considered for exceptional candidates.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
