Job description

About Lipscomb Academy

Join Lipscomb Academy’s Christ-centered community as a teacher and lead exceptional, college-preparatory learning that is both rigorous and relational. You will design standards-aligned, data-informed lessons; integrate a biblical worldview; and mentor students in character and service. In partnership with families and colleagues, you’ll maintain an orderly, supportive classroom where every learner is known and challenged. We prepare students for purposeful lives through rigorous academics and spiritual formation—and we seek educators who model Christ-like professionalism and joy in their calling.

The Opportunity

Lipscomb Academy is seeking a dynamic educator to teach classes related to innovation, design, technology and engineering across the middle and high school levels, including possible AP courses. While teaching will be your primary focus, responsibilities will include leading the robotics program, serving as LA’s administrator for select edtech apps, and promoting innovation by tracking emerging tools (with a focus on AI in education) and sharing best practices with faculty. If you’re passionate about inspiring students and elevating tech-enabled teaching, we’d love to hear from you. Join Lipscomb Academy’s Christ-centered community to lead exceptional, college-preparatory learning that is both rigorous and relational.

What You Will Do

Primary Responsibilities (50% - 80%): Teaching (Grades 6–12)

  • Design and create meaningful experiences for middle school students. Use various tools to teach digital design, design thinking concepts, or other practical and creative technologies.
  • Design experiences for high school courses to expose students to design and problem-solving, and possibly teach an AP course such as AP Cybersecurity.
  • Develop clear, standards-aligned projects emphasizing computational thinking, ethics, digital citizenship, and real-world applications for now and future careers for grades 6-12.
  • Stay current with AI.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning; model best practices.
  • Contribute to department and school initiatives; communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues.

Secondary Responsibilities (20%- 50%)

Digital Learning Support (MS/HS) and EdTech App Administration

  • Provide co-planning and PD for teachers, integrating technology and AI to align with instruction and assessment.
  • Curate resources and model effective, ethical, and accessible AI use aligned with school goals and policies.
  • Serve as LA administrator for educational technology tools (e.g., Canva, Edpuzzle, Magic School AI), including account provisioning, settings, data privacy, and support.
  • Collaborate with IT and academic leadership to evaluate, onboard, and maintain instructional tools aligned to curriculum needs and compliance standards (FERPA/COPPA).

After School

  • Lead or co-lead the robotics team/club, including recruitment, logistics, budgeting, safety procedures, and competition preparation.
  • Foster student leadership, collaboration, and engineering design practices.

What You Bring

  • Mission-Aligned: A deep commitment to the Christian mission of Lipscomb Academy. As a Christian independent school affiliated with the Churches of Christ, Lipscomb Academy seeks faculty who can support and model the school’s mission and values. Candidates should be willing to participate in spiritual life activities and mentor students in faith and character.
  • Demonstrated ability to use problemsolving strategies to engage students while teaching at the middle or high school level (student teaching considered)
  • Foundational knowledge of AI concepts (e.g., machine learning basics, prompt design, AI ethics) and cybersecurity principles.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Student-centered pedagogy with an emphasis on project-based learning and real-world problem solving.
  • Experience with ed tech apps such as Canva, Edpuzzle, and Magic School AI.
  • Experience leading competitive robotics teams.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, accessibility, and ethical AI practices in K–12 contexts.
  • Ability to inspire adult learners; help plan professional development for faculty.
