Mechanical Design Engineer | Automation and Robotics
6 Month Contract | Day Shift | Port Huron, MI
IMMEDIATE NEED

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in robotic automation, programming, troubleshooting, and fixture design. This position requires someone who can step into active automation projects and begin contributing quickly with minimal training.

The ideal candidate will have hands on experience working with robotic automation systems, mechanical fixture design, equipment programming, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing or machine build environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design and modify automation fixtures using SolidWorks 2D and 3D CAD
  • Program, troubleshoot, and support robotic automation equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and controls related equipment issues
  • Support robotic automation and manufacturing projects from design through implementation
  • Develop and modify fixtures used in robotic automation systems
  • Troubleshoot automation equipment and identify root causes of equipment or process issues
  • Support fixture development, testing, installation, and startup
  • Collaborate with engineering, controls, manufacturing, and machine build teams
  • Apply mechanical design principles, pneumatic concepts, and electrical controls knowledge
  • Support prototype builds, equipment modifications, and continuous improvement projects
  • Complete engineering reports, protocols, drawings, and project documentation
Qualifications | Must Haves
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 3 plus years of mechanical design, automation, machine build, or manufacturing engineering experience preferred
  • Strong SolidWorks 2D and 3D CAD experience
  • Hands on robotic automation programming and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and controls related issues
  • Experience with robotic fixtures, automation equipment, machine design, or machine build
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and contribute with minimal training
  • Experience supporting equipment startup, debugging, testing, and implementation
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
