How much do robot control jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 18, 2026, the average hourly pay for robot control in the United States is $36.88, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $30.53 and $43.27 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is robotics a high paying job?

Robotics jobs, including robot control roles, tend to offer salaries above the national average, especially for those with specialized skills in programming, automation, and engineering. Salaries vary based on experience, education, location, and industry, with advanced positions often providing higher compensation.

What engineering jobs pay $500,000?

Senior robotics engineers, automation engineers, and specialized control systems engineers in high-demand industries can earn salaries around $500,000, especially with extensive experience, advanced skills in programming and systems integration, and leadership roles. These positions often require advanced degrees, certifications, and work in sectors like aerospace, defense, or large manufacturing firms.

What is the difference between Robot Control vs Robot Programmer?

AspectRobot ControlRobot Programmer
Required CredentialsTechnical certifications, associate degrees in robotics or automationSimilar certifications, programming courses, and technical training
Work EnvironmentManufacturing plants, automation facilities, industrial settingsDesign labs, manufacturing floors, software development environments
Employer & Industry UsageManufacturers, automation companies, industrial facilitiesRobotics firms, manufacturing companies, automation service providers
Common Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding operational roles in roboticsFocus on programming and software development for robots

Robot Control involves managing and operating robotic systems on the factory floor, ensuring they perform tasks correctly. Robot Programmers focus on writing and developing the software that enables robots to function. While both roles require technical skills and industry knowledge, Robot Control emphasizes operational oversight, whereas Robot Programmers concentrate on programming and software development.

What kind of jobs are robots taking over?

Robots are increasingly automating jobs that involve repetitive, manual tasks such as manufacturing, assembly line work, and packaging. In fields like warehouse logistics and quality inspection, robotic systems are also replacing some human roles, often requiring skills in programming, maintenance, and operation of robotic equipment.

What careers deal with robotics?

Careers in robotics include roles such as robotic engineers, automation technicians, and control systems specialists. These jobs typically involve designing, programming, and maintaining robotic systems using tools like CAD software and programming languages such as Python or C++. A background in engineering, computer science, or related fields is often required, along with knowledge of sensors, actuators, and control algorithms.

Job description

Robotics Specialist - Food Manufacturing

Location: Rossville, TN - relocation package available

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 base salary + performance bonus

Our client is one of North America's leading organic brands, and their Rossville, TN facility is in the middle of a significant automation expansion. They are deploying a fleet of industrial robots across production lines, with several dozen units planned and more to follow as capacity is added. This is a long-term, project-driven role with a clear runway. Robotics projects are confirmed for at least the next few years and likely well beyond. If you are a robotics professional who wants to plant roots somewhere and build something rather than move from contract to contract, this is worth a serious look.

Key requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience working with industrial robots in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong proficiency in robot programming and control; experience with Kawasaki robots is a significant asset, other robotics experience also valued
  • Solid understanding of PLC control systems and the ability to integrate robot control with PLC logic
  • Experience commissioning robotic systems and executing handovers to maintenance teams
  • Familiarity with HMIs and ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in a fast-paced production environment
  • Willingness to travel for training and to OEM facilities for equipment selection as needed
  • A degree or diploma in Electrical, Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering is a plus, but demonstrated hands-on experience is valued above credentials
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States

Compensation includes a base salary of $120,000 to $130,000 commensurate with experience, a performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare. Relocation package will also be available. This is a direct-hire, permanent opportunity with a growing, mission-driven company.
