Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Student Ministries provides direct leadership, oversight, and operational direction for student-facing ministry initiatives within the Office of Spiritual Formation at Roberts Wesleyan University. This full time role is primarily focused on leading and developing the Student Chaplaincy Program alongside local and global mission initiatives. The Assistant Director serves as a key ministry leader who fosters student discipleship, coordinates outreach programs, and supports the overall spiritual formation vision of the University through structured administrative and programmatic leadership.
Position Summary

This full time role is primarily focused on leading and developing the Student Chaplaincy Program alongside local and global mission initiatives. The Assistant Director serves as a key ministry leader who fosters student discipleship, coordinates outreach programs, and supports the overall spiritual formation vision of the University through structured administrative and programmatic leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Student Chaplaincy Leadership
  • Direct, mentor, and oversee the Student Chaplaincy Program, providing direct spiritual leadership, training, and discipleship for student leaders.
  • Recruit, train, and deploy student chaplains across campus residence halls and university communities.
  • Develop relational and spiritual growth frameworks to support student chaplains in their pastoral care and peer ministry roles.
  • Oversee systems, schedules, and evaluation metrics to ensure the effectiveness and support of the chaplaincy team.

  • Missions & Global Outreach
  • Lead, coordinate, and execute local and global mission initiatives, short-term trips, and community service projects.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local churches, ministry organizations, and global mission partners.
  • Guide student participant preparation, including fundraising, spiritual formation, cultural awareness, and logistical readiness.
  • Manage post-trip debriefing, discipleship, and ongoing student engagement in local community outreach.

  • Departmental Operations & Program Logistics
  • Manage operational, logistical, and scheduling needs for student ministry programs, retreats, chapel gatherings, and campus events.
  • Direct departmental communications, social media, announcements, and promotional efforts to maximize student participation.
  • Manage student ministry budgets, purchasing, expense tracking, and resource stewardship in alignment with university policies.
  • Supervise student workers and program volunteers to ensure operational efficiency across all student ministry projects.
The approved rate of pay for this position is: $24.00 - $26.00/hr
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required in ministry, theology, leadership, higher education, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in student ministry, chaplaincy oversight, or mission trip coordination.
  • Proven abilities in leadership development, mentoring, and student discipleship.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
