Job description

POSITION DETAILS

The OTR Mapping Vehicle Operator plays a key role in Acquisitions workflow. Operation of the vehicle that uses Lidar, digital imagery systems and GPS instruments to collect raw data for map production system. Position can be based out of any state in the country. Relocation is not required.

This is a temporary contract running until the end of 2026.
This position will require extended travel of 23 days travelling and 5 days home.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project pre-planning.
  • Operates vehicle in safe and orderly manner
  • Ensure accurate collection of data.
  • Operates lidar, digital imagery system and GPS instrument.
  • Record and update drive logs and daily reports.
  • Responsible for the full cycle operation of ground-based survey equipment including GPS and other hardware as directed by the LiDar System Tech Lead.
  • Assist in the review and documentation of the processes and procedures with the Acquisitions Supervisor.

Requirements / Skills

  • An equivalent of a post-secondary two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or GIS surveying and/or a minimum of two year’s GIS survey related field experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Sound knowledge in computers and GIS
  • Sound knowledge of LiDAR systems of varying manufacturers
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, passport, and be able to travel internationally.
  • Must be able to lift at least 30lbs
  • Must be able to climb 2-3 feet off the ground and occasionally perform pulling to adjust and protect LiDar equipment

Work Environment / Assets

  • During field days, a 24-hour on-call schedule is required
  • International and domestic travel and long-distance driving in various climate conditions.
  • Confined spaces, frequent motion in vehicle up to six hours per day.
  • Understanding of survey technologies and lidar technologies preferred
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to build longstanding relationships
  • Knowledge of set up, operation and break down of GPS ground station equipment
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in Automotive industry

PAY RATE: $20.00/Hourly
