Job description

Job Title: RMM Consultant
Engagement Type: Contract / W2
Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior

Overview

We are seeking an RMM Consultant with strong managed service provider (MSP) experience and hands‑on knowledge of ConnectWise Automate and RMM platforms to support the design, optimization, and migration of remote monitoring and management (RMM) environments within MSP ecosystems. This is a client‑facing consulting role for someone who understands how MSPs use RMM tools in real‑world environments, communicates professionally, and brings a problem‑solving, service‑oriented mindset to every client engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain on‑premise RMM infrastructure, including patching, upgrades, and performance optimization of Automate servers
  • Lead and execute migrations from ConnectWise Automate to modern RMM platforms
  • Design and deploy RMM solutions across large‑scale environments (thousands of endpoints)
  • Configure and optimize patch management policies, monitoring templates, and alerting frameworks
  • Manage agent deployment strategies, including installation, updates, and lifecycle management
  • Integrate and maintain third‑party tools such as EDR and antivirus solutions within the RMM ecosystem
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (primarily PowerShell) to streamline operations and improve efficiency
  • Collaborate directly with clients to assess environments, define requirements, and deliver tailored solutions
  • Provide guidance on best practices for RMM architecture, monitoring standards, and operational maturity
Required Qualifications
  • Proven MSP experience in a technical or consulting capacity
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of ConnectWise Automate and ConnectWise RMM platforms
  • Hands‑on experience maintaining and optimizing on‑premise Automate servers
  • Demonstrated success deploying and managing RMM agents at scale (thousands of endpoints)
  • Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Advanced knowledge of patch management strategy, monitoring configuration, and alert tuning
  • Experience managing endpoint security tools (EDR, AV) within RMM frameworks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable in frequent, live client interactions
  • Experience working in complex, enterprise‑scale server environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior consulting experience in client‑facing roles
  • Experience with RPA/automation platforms such as Rewst
  • Exposure to modern RMM migration methodologies and toolsets
  • Familiarity with IT operational frameworks and service delivery optimization
Success Profile

The ideal candidate understands MSP operations and is capable of executing complex migrations while advising clients on best practices. You are comfortable in ambiguous environments, can communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and bring a process‑oriented mindset to RMM and automation strategy. The candidate approaches challenges with a consulting mindset, communicates clearly, and is excited by the opportunity to grow in both technical depth and client impact as the organization continues to expand.
