POSITION:  Production Lead

CLASSIFICATION:  Full-Time, Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO:  Director of Manufacturing

LOCATION: Santa Cruz, CA.  Wednesday through Friday 9:00AM to 5:30PM, Saturday and Sunday 7:00AM to 3:30PM

COMPENSATION: $22-$24 hourly

Verve is looking for a Production Supervisor to join our Production team in Santa Cruz, CA.


Position Summary

The role of the operations department at Verve is order fulfillment which includes receipt and processing of a customer order through delivery. The Production Lead assists the Production Supervisor in the day-to-day performance within the Verve operations department. Specifically, the Production Lead is responsible for product packaging, order pick & pack, quality assurance and SQF compliance, and outbound distribution. The Production Supervisor leads a team towards the goal of on-time, accurate, and efficient execution of these four main responsibilities across a variety of revenue channels including Wholesale and Ecommerce and Grocery.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensure daily order batch fulfillment across all sales and distribution channels (Wholesale, Ecommerce, and Grocery).

  • Lead the team in daily execution and meeting minimum productivity goals.

  • Execute production plans to meet the needs of daily order volume requirements for all channels. 

  • Coordinate with the Customer Experience Team to assign customer accounts to optimal distribution channels e.g. Verve delivery, customer pick-up, UPS/FEDEX, or common carrier. 

  • Coordinate with the RTD Production Manager ensuring proper documents are provided, on a daily basis, for rtd-outgoing.

  • Print, organize, and deliver packing slips and shipping documents to the Production team for all E-Commerce, Wholesale, and Grocery orders from Verve Shopify and external dropship partners. 

  • Communicate production plans effectively with the Production team to ensure all orders are packaged and staged for shipment daily, paying close attention to marketing agendas and calendars to account for labor needs around promotions.

  • Review and confirm the accuracy of the daily Wholesale Report, print out package prep and UPCs.

  • Collaborate effectively with inter-departmental partners. 

  • Responsible for oversight on all Verve Retail locations’ coffee and supply orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Ensure the company’s brand is properly reflected by keeping a well maintained, clean, well organized working area. 

  • Oversee and directly contribute when necessary to all order fulfillment sub-functions incl. package prep, package fill, product staging, order pick/pack, quality assurance, customer invoicing, order staging, van load out, and delivery. 

  • Ensure employees adhere to established standard operating procedures, safety and sanitation policies, opening/closing protocols etc. in alignment with our commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices and overall Food Safety.

  • Manage team work-flow, employee/sub-function assignment, and task prioritization to meet the evolving demands of the order volume batched for daily fulfillment, cross-referencing the open sales order report to ensure all orders are getting to customers within the predetermined lead time. 

  • Monitor all production equipment, to ensure consistent calibration, cleanliness, functionality, and safety. 

  • Oversee and schedule daily cleaning and organization of the production facility. 

  • Delegate tasks equitably to ensure efficient workflow while preserving team morale. 

  • Effectively communicate clear action items and deliverables for each shift (AM/PM)

  • As needed, process web orders through shipstation, print out shipping labels and packing slips.

  • Run Wholesale and E-commerce reports, and print out reports for the team to execute fulfillment. 

  • Weekly review and analysis of KPIs to encourage constant improvement of processes.

  • Coordinate with Production Leadership to ensure task prioritizations meet the evolving demands of order volume batched for daily fulfillment, cross-referencing the open sales order report to ensure all orders are getting to customers within the predetermined lead time.



Qualifications and Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in production and logistics management

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and production planning software

  • A demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team, through positivity and approachability 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written 

  • Must have or be willing to obtain forklift certification

  • Valid California Driver's License required.

  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

  • Coffee production knowledge is a plus.


Physical Requirements

During the performance of duties, employees are expected to engage in regular communication, auditory perception, and reading tasks. This role is dynamic and involves prolonged periods of standing (or being on one's feet for up to 8 hours), walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and crouching throughout the shift. Additionally, employees will be required to lift products and packaging overhead and may frequently handle items weighing between 25 and 70 pounds. Essential vision capabilities for this role encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Furthermore, adept finger and wrist dexterity are essential for successful performance in this position.
