Quality Engineer

Direct Hire

Indianapolis, IN

Compensation: Up to $85k

Position Overview:

Seeking a Quality Engineer to support customer quality requirements and ensure manufacturing and inspection processes consistently meet customer specifications and industry standards. This is a direct hire opportunity for a detail-oriented quality professional with experience in manufacturing, aerospace quality, first article inspections, dimensional inspection, and continuous improvement.

The Quality Engineer will work closely with manufacturing, inspection, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to interpret customer requirements, resolve quality issues, improve processes, and ensure products meet applicable specifications and standards.

What You’ll Do as a Quality Engineer:

As a Quality Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring customer expectations and quality requirements are met throughout the manufacturing process. This position will be responsible for reviewing technical requirements, developing inspection plans, supporting corrective actions, and coordinating quality documentation with both internal teams and customers.

Quality Engineer Duties Include:

  • Reviewing customer purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements
  • Compiling, reviewing, approving, and submitting First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to customers
  • Developing Quality and Inspection Plans, including print ballooning and completion of AS9102 documentation
  • Reviewing and approving supplier First Article Inspection Reports
  • Assisting with the development of standard operating procedures and inspection procedures
  • Facilitating root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions
  • Initiating and submitting customer nonconformance reports when required
  • Supporting quality training throughout the organization
  • Participating on cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met
  • Planning and scheduling product movement through inspection areas
  • Developing gages and inspection methods
  • Supporting DSQR activities and completing DSQR duties as needed
  • Performing document control responsibilities as needed
  • Supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of practical quality/manufacturing experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with an Associate degree
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications
  • Experience using precision measurement and inspection equipment
  • Customer quality assurance experience
  • Previous internal or external audit experience
  • Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement
  • Experience with database administration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities

Preferred Quality & Manufacturing Experience:

  • Working knowledge of AS9102
  • Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001
  • Familiarity with RR SABRe, GE S-1000, and P&W ASQR-01
  • Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI/FAIR)
  • Dimensional inspection experience
  • Knowledge of inspection tools and measurement equipment
  • Experience with PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action experience
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Experience supporting aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is highly preferred
