We are looking for a contractor to support the Competitive Intelligence practice. This contractor will operate as a senior strategic operator (Sr. Manager / Director level), bringing external platform perspective (Amazon / Google) to strengthen positioning, raise seller fluency, and improve the quality and impact of competitive materials.

Competitive Positioning & Materials Enhancement (~60%)

  • Audit and sharpen existing battle cards, one-pagers, presentations, and objection handling
  • Pressure-test the client's positioning against Amazon DSP, Google (DV360), Yahoo, and mid-market DSPs
  • Improve the clarity, defensibility, and day-to-day usability of competitive narratives for sellers
  • Identify gaps in existing content and create new positioning where needed

Global Enablement & Training (~40%)

  • Contribute to the Competitive Battleground training build for Amazon and Google
  • Enhance and refine annual certification content: landscape overview, client differentiators, sector-specific positioning, and objection handling
  • Collaborate with the internal training team on content and delivery
  • Present and explain competitive positioning directly to sales teams

External Lens & Thought Partnership

  • Bring first-hand perspective on how Amazon/Google position themselves vs. the client, how their sales teams sell against the open internet, and where they're investing strategically
  • Serve as a thought partner to Strategic Positioning leadership
  • Identify structural vulnerabilities and opportunities in the client's competitive positioning that the current team hasn't considered

What a Ringer Candidate Looks Like

  • Was at Amazon Ads or Google Ads within the last year
  • Worked in Sales Strategy, Product Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, Strategic Positioning, or Sales Enablement
  • Knows exactly how Amazon or Google position their advertising products against The Trade Desk
  • Can immediately review a battle card and say, "This messaging isn't how Google actually sells this product "
  • Has built competitive enablement content before
  • Can improve existing materials independently, without needing direction
  • Has experience training commercial/sales teams
  • Can identify strategic gaps the current team hasn't considered

Core Requirements

  • Senior Manager / Director-level experience (title flexible, years and type of experience matter more)

  • Recently worked at Amazon (DSP / Ads organization) or Google (Ads / DV360 / YouTube / Sales Strategy), ideally within the past 1–2 years
  • Deep understanding of:
    • DSP ecosystem (Google DV360 or Amazon DSP)
    • Programmatic advertising
    • Walled garden vs. open internet dynamics
    • Advertiser and agency buying behavior
    • How Google/Amazon sell and position their platforms

Experience Profile

  • 8–12 years across: ad sales, ads platform strategy, sales strategy/enablement, product marketing or competitive intelligence, and/or programmatic strategy or activation at an agency or client
  • Years matter less than depth and recency of expertise; an exceptional candidate with ~6 years is welcome to apply
  • Must be senior enough to work independently, own projects with minimal direction, build executive-level presentations, and shape messaging and strategy

Must Be Comfortable

  • Building polished PowerPoint presentations
  • Writing sales-facing content
  • Reviewing and critiquing existing materials
  • Providing strategic recommendations to leadership

Soft Skills & Culture Fit

  • Extremely independent and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Confident working cross-functionally
  • Personable and collaborative; builds relationships quickly
  • Not intimidated by senior leadership
  • A strategic thinker who identifies opportunities, not just someone who executes tasks
