We’re hiring a Service and Communications Dispatcher to Live. Work. Explore. at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon!

Job Summary:
Professionally handles all calls, alarms and radio communication through the switchboard operated 24/7.

The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $16.15 per hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Continually focus on providing exceptional guest service as a primary goal, both in how work is conducted and when interacting with guests.
  • Process calls, respond to alarms and handle radio communication and other basic switchboard operations following Switchboard policy and procedures.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of all alarms and the ability to handle an emergency situation calmly and efficiently.
  • Provide Xanterra South Rim property information to callers following Switchboard policy and procedures.
  • Use professional discretion when divulging information and activities to callers.
  • Multitask by monitoring multiple radio frequencies; processing telephone calls; and log relevant notes for fire, medical, and security incidents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Previous telephone switchboard operator, PBX, dispatch or front desk experience helpful.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, and professional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor under potentially stressful and/or emergency situation(s).
  • Ability to learn fire alarm systems, and ability to read fire alarm panels.
  • Ability to effectively learn and utilize two-way radio communications and pagers.
  • Ability to work any shift for a 24/7 operation; morning, evenings & overnight shifts.

Frequently: Handle, reach, bend

Occasionally: Stand, walk, reach, climb, squat, kneel, lift/carry up to 100lbs, push/pull up to 100lbs
